Conflict: Desert Storm II - Back to Baghdad
Review by piecemealcranky
"A very strategic game...."
INTRODUCTION
Conflict: Desert Storm 2 was designed by Gotham Games in the year 2003. It is the second sequel, and I should really say that it had been improved and give gamers a brand new experience of shooting, strategy, skill, and teamwork game play.
GAMEPLAY 9/10
This game has a fine story. It features, of course, a shooting game, it’s not like Counter-Strike type, but it’s way much better than it, because of its distinctiveness, the game play styling, and the interesting story sequels makes the game even better and different than others. Sometimes you might get bored playing the same type of game, but this game should cheer you up, and of course give you at least a slice of fun and excitement. It was made a bit like the game Spec Ops and Rainbow Six, but of course with better graphics, story, and sound effects. If you feel that playing alone isn’t fun, so play with someone. This game features multiplayer game, a very good way to have fun and teamwork with your companions. So, basically, this game requires the player’s skill, strategy, and definitely teamwork.
The enemies are tough to beat, although this depends on the difficulty as well. Higher difficulty means higher the chances for you to lose. So, pick the right choice when starting the game.
The controls are entirely up to you to familiarize it with the game. But based on my experience, I had no problems beginning the game, or even trying to suit myself for the first 10 minutes. My conclusion is that this game is very easy to manage and the controls are simple and easy.
GRAPHICS 9/10
The graphics are not 3D type, and to tell you the truth, this makes the game better, well, according to me. I think the game won’t be fun if it’s 3D looking-type, because believe me, when it’s 3D it will look real, but it won’t keep itself that way until the end of the game. I am talking about the characters. Not all games are perfect on making the characters looked real and 3D, and most of them only did the background, and I think why don’t they just keep the graphics like that? If you passed a game halfway already, why don’t you just continue, right? So, this is important on making decisions involving graphics whether they are excellent or not. Actually excellence doesn’t make any difference if the fans of the game are small, trust me. So, this game presented the characters like cartoon characters a bit, but it suits the game and the background.
SOUNDS 8/10
The sounds are perfect for an Xbox game. It gives the player a feeling throughout the game, especially when the controller vibrates. You will have this wonderful feeling when playing the game, and you won’t realize that you’ve played quite a long time, if you concentrate on the game. It’s fun especially when you choose multiplayer game, which allows you to play with your buddies. The sound definitely takes effect here, and gives the player the experience at a real shooting environment. It’s as if you’re the soldier and on the battlefield yourself!
REPLAYABILITY 5/10
The missions are not that much, because it will make you feel bored eventually. So, play it once is enough, and you should understand the whole part of the game and story. But, if you want to play again, it’s up to you. You may want to try better or increase your skills!
FINAL RECOMMENDATION 8/10
If you’ve played Rainbow Six or Spec Ops before, than you should try this game! They are quite similar to each other. If you’ve never played this type of game, then go ahead and buy it. Although you might consider renting it first, but I recommend you to go ahead and just buy this game. You’ll love it, trust me!
