"Your Search for a Challenge Ends"

Otogi: Myth of Demons is one of the most challenging games i have ever played. This game takes place in what seems to be ancient Japan. You play as an undead warrior named Raikoh. A majority of the enemies in this game are based on japanese folk tales.

STORY
Score: 8/10

The story of Otogi is an odd one. You play as Raikoh, and undead warrior who is the last of his clan. The clan that he belonged to gave the final death blow to people who were near death. Raikoh was eventually to asked to kill his own father, so he fled. After he left, the ''Great Seal'' collapsed, almost killing Raikoh. However, he was saved by the princess (no name given, just Princess) who held him in the state of life and death. Raikoh is to serve her and purify the demons that plauge the land in order to bring back honor to his clan.

GAMEPLAY
10/10

The game play of this game is great. It has some of the most impressive enviroments i have seen. If you see something that isnt part of the backround, you can take it out. For intsance, the first stage you go to is a bamboo forest. If you like, you can take out every last tree in the forest and the shrine that lies inside it, and some weapons will leave a gash in the ground if you slam an enemy hard enough into it. Also, human spirits lie within objects in otogi, and by rescueing them you can recive special items, although you may not always be rewarded for saving them. Also this game has a great fighting systems. It doesnt take too long to get the hang of it, and its quite impressive. You start out with a katana like weapon. If you like you can just bash everything with a hard attack, but sometimes youll need a quick small attack. you can do combos with a small attack, or combine small attacks and a hard attack. Magic is also useful in this game. It can be very powerful, but unleashing the strongest attacks takes time. However, if you can charge a spell up enough, even a level 1 spell can be deadly. You can also combine small attacks and combos. Now you may be thinking ''What if i get tired of that sword?'' Well, there are many weapons in this game that you can buy, earn, or find, as well as magic and accesories. While you may find the prices crazy at first, youll begin to find ways to make money fast.

GRAPHICS AND SOUND
10/10

The graphics in otogi are amazing. They'll just blow you away. The graphics is usally what sucks people into this game. The sound on the other hand, fits this game perfectly. I also like the sound track, but i just like japanese music.

PLAYING THE GAME
9/10

This game is confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it rather quickly. Im not sure how long it take to beat this game, as i am still playing it, so im not sure if it will be fun to play again, although the manuel mentions something about a second play function.

BUY OR RENT?

This game is the kind of game that you either like or dont. If your the kind of person who loves a challenge, loves real-time rpgs, then this game is for you, otherwise, rent it first. Most people think that they will like this game, but this is not like any normal rpg. This is a real time. If you sit there, then you will most likely die, espcially if your magic runs dry.
