Spawn: Armageddon
Review by cybercheese
"Oh my god, a game based off a superhero that is mediocre!? Amazing!"
One day I was walking through my local video store, looking for something that could entertain me, and I just so happened to come across this game. So I thought to myself ''Hmmm, Spawn is cool and Namco hasn't let me down before, I'll give this game a try.'' Soon thereafter I regretted wasting a few bucks renting this mediocre waste of space.
Concept:
1. Taken Spawn, a badass comic book character, and put him in a very poorly constructed game with very little creativity or effort put into it. 2. Trick gamers into thinking it's good because Spawn is in it and Namco made it. 3. Laugh manically as people discover they wasted their money on this. DAMN YOU NAMCO!!!!
Graphics:
Eh, these graphics would be good enough for the PS2 but I expect far more out of the XBOX. The characters look bland and emotionless and their lips don't even move when they talk. Although I do have to admit the Angel Station looks beautiful.
Sound:
I absolutely hate the music in this game. Sure it's fun to listen to at first but there isn't a good diversity of music in this game. You basically have your ''walking around'' music and your ''fight'' music along with a few boss songs. You'll be listening to the ''walking around'' music the most because all you'll be doing is walking around, trying to find where the hell you're supposed to go next. Oh and don't get me started on the voices, the voice acting on this game is terrible, not that there is a lot of voice acting in this game, it's basically just waltzing through levels killing a bunch of stuff.
Controls:
I don't have any complaints with these, they're easy to master and they aren't as annoying as everything else in this game.
Gameplay:
At first it's pretty fun going through levels hacking down demons but after awhile it does get very very annoying. Every once in awhile there's a boss fight or some even more annoying platforming obstacle to overcome just to mix things up, but for the most part you just go through one path to the end of the level. It takes very little talent to beat this game, but you'll need a ton of patience to deal with this game's mediocrity.
Overall:
As with your typical super hero based game this game is mediocre, not bad but definitely not good. I would strongly suggest staying away from this game unless you're a gigantic Spawn fan.
Buy or Rent:
If you're really into Spawn this is a worth a rent, just so you can beat the game through once. It's not really worth a buy considering you won't want to play this game again just to unlock concept art or some damn comic book covers.
