Red Dead Revolver
Review by Geist
"Clean of your heaters and get your horse blanket ready, there’s a new sheriff in town."
Read Dead Revolver must be one of the more ambitious well planned games I've played in a while. From the old western feel to the gun slinging, everything is done superbly and correctly. The story is classic, as you roam the Wild West as a bounty hunter in search of revenge. You'll tackle bad guys, stop train robberies, and basically live the life of a cowboy. Who in there right mind wouldn't want that.
Graphics-9
The graphics really shine in R.D.R. . They give off a gritty old west feel and mimic the old movie feel by having lines and little flecks appear on the screen during cut scenes. There is some gore, so parents should be aware of that one. Not too much, but enough to rile a protective mother.
Sound-10
I give R.D.R. a 10 in sound because honestly it dissevers it. From the sounds of gun play to the old western style tunes R.D.R. excellence in this category. Rock Star as usual but quite a lot of effort into the movie like feel, with full on voice-overs and out of this world sound effects.
Story-9
The story is great, following in the footsteps of classic old west movies. I don't want to go to deep and spoil the fun, but it deserves kudos for story telling and plot.
Gameplay-9
The controls in R.D.R. are dead on. They are a mixture of first person shooter and third person control. From normal gun fights to quick draws and slow motion trick shooting, R.D.R. controls smoothly and effortlessly. It may take some getting use to at first, but once it sets in; you're completely at home with the controls.
Replay value-9
As with the other categories R.D.R. again receives high marks for replay value. From un-lockables to some fantastic multiplayer, yup Red Dead has got multiplayer, the replay value soars. There's nothing like beating your friend to the punch and getting in a good gut shot to put a smile on your face. That and the single player will definitely bring you back for more.
Overall-9
Read Dead Revolver is a unique game in both story and game play. If you've been waiting for something new, something that separates it's self from the rest of the pack R.D.R. is were you want to be. From taking down a crazy barber on a roof top, to blowing a bandit off a train, to gun fighting on horseback, everything is all good in Red Dead Revolver. So clean of your heaters and get your horse blanket ready, there's a new sheriff in town and he's an ornery son of a...
