"Getting closer to perfect"

Years since the first FIFA release, EA Sports has done it again. They have changed the way you play the game. This time adding some new controls, game modes, and bring the game to XBOX live.

The controls, for lack of better words, are amazing realistic. The new first touch control system must be learn and utilized during game play. You will find that the way you move the ball on the first touch will be the difference between a goal and a takeaway. Also, the first touch control allows for a more realistic spiriting with the ball. While holding the run button, you tap the FTC forward for an additional burst of speed. However, this moves the ball further from your feet, allowing the player to be tackled by defense much easier. These are just a couple of the little details that EA has put in to make this game feel like the real thing.

While getting more real, the game does get a bit more difficult. Don't expect to run the score up 10-0 on the Professional level. Shooting and goal scoring in general has become trickier. The AI reads the plays better, steps to the ball more often, and really challenges you in the air for headers. Watch out for the offsides trap too, especially if your team is lazy and doesn't like to run back!

Another big change is the Career Mode. You take the rains as up-start manager, trying to earn your stars. The great thing about the Career Mode is you start at the bottom. Slowly building your team and team of managers to higher and higher levels. You manage all aspects of the team: fitness, health, skill training, transfers, formations, playing time, and even finance.

And yet another, yes another, new option is the ability to go online with XBOX live to play against people around the world. Take Man U and find someone across the Atlantic who wants to battle with an American club. The possibilities and fun are endless. But keep it clean!

As a faithful soccer fan and a person who does play or buy several EA games a year, I feel this is well worth the money and time. You can play online; you can play a career by yourself or with friends at home. Any way you look at it, this game is going to bring hours of fun to your XBOX.
