James Bond 007: NightFire
Review by IMback09
"The Worst of all the Next-gen Bond games"
I am a big fan of James Bond movies and games, and I am very much dissapointed with this game.
Story 7/10: You've got the normal story here. A crazy guy (named Drake) is trying to destroy the world from space. Nothing special but has becomes a norm for Bond games and movies.
Graphics 7/10: Some framerate problems at times. Nice character models, good explosion effects. Overall the graphics for this game are solid if not spectacular. Bond himself looks esspecailly nice. The explosions also look realestic but could have used some better particle effects.
Sound 6/10: Average. OK voiceovers, gun sounds, but a quite crappy theme song. Always got the good old Bond music though.
Controls 9/10: If there's one thing this game does have going for it it's good controls. The Duel Analog system was implemented quite well here. Targeting is good with auto-target because it is very easy to switch between targets. I like that you can move while holding down the left trigger, a feature many first person shooters have yet to utilize. The best part of the game.
Gameplay 6/10: Decent gameplay that would become great with one thing; Good AI. The AI in this game is idiotic. Enemies will not work together, try and flank me, find cover, or do anyting like that. The extent of enimeis evasion of your bullets is moving left to right. Never once in this game did I see an enemy try and find cover. They would just stand out in the open and shoot at me. The AI wasn't even smart enough to manuver the rail cars in multiplayer so their can't be any bots in the Ravine. An area in which rail cars are pivital to your survival. The rest of the gameplay is solid but would be great with some better AI.
Replay Value 7/10: The game is not that great to play through more then once or twice, but the multiplayer is good. If you have a few friends over. Because once again the AI strongly takes down from the expeirence here. But like I said if you have a few friends over its a fun game to play.
Rent or Buy: Rent. Rent it when you're planning to have a few friends over. You can finish the single player game in about 7 or 8 hours. Once again too short of a Bond game.
Overall if you like the Bond series, are planning on having friends over, or looking for a really short play. This will be a decent rent.
