X-Men Legends

"Very impressive game..."

X-Men Legends is an excellent RPG with hours and hours of gameplay. It is by far the best X-Men game on any system.

Gameplay: 8/10

The gameplay is a lot of fun. You have a party of 4 X-Men with you at a time, from a selection of about 14. This game is pretty much a dungeon crawler, exploring the maps and defeating anti-mutants and the Brotherhood as you go along. This game was surprisingly hard at first, but after spending a while in the danger room, I leveled my characters up, and that made things much better.

The only downside to the gameplay is that sometimes the 3 X-Men that are following your lead tend to be a bit on the dumbass side. Near the beginning of the game, Cyclops thought it would be pretty cool if he continually walked into a fire, killing himself. Although this doesn't happen often, it gets irritating.

There are also plenty of mutant powers at your disposal, upgrading as you go along. You'll find that some mutants are more useful than others depending on your style of play.

Graphics: 7/10

The cutscene graphics you will either love or hate. During cutscenes, the characters are cell-shaded, and the look like they've been cut out of a comic book and pasted into the game. However, in game graphics are very well done.

Sound/Voice Acting: 8/10

I was actually pretty impressed with the voice acting. Every X-Man's voice seems to fit the charater nicely. The music is far from spectacular, however the sound effects are well done.

Lasting Appeal: 9/10

This game is surprisingly long. The levels are quite large, however, there are plenty of save points throughout the game incase you've had enough for the day.

Rent/Buy: If you are an X-Men fan and like RPG dungeon crawlers, then this is the game for you. Definately a buy. If you rent, you probably won't finish the game on time and you'll be wanting more.

Improvements for X-men Legends 2:

Better AI system, and more alternate costumes for the characters.
