"A plesant suprise"

I had never played a Metal Slug game so I didn't know what to expect. After spending some quality time with it I'm hooked

Story: 9/10
Its a very basic story simply about stopping a bad guy with a few surprises, but nothing special. I liked it though it gave me that retro feeling back when games didn't need complicated stories or crazy plot twist to be a good game.

Graphics: 8/10
Its a pixilated 2D side scroller, so it's not going to be on the same level as Halo but never the less it's very detailed (and humorous). You notice little details that make you appreciate the graphics like the faces of the soldiers when being killed. Defiantly one of my favorite aspects about the game.

Sound: 9/10
Again it has a retro feeling that brings up memories. Its music is simple and the sound effects are very cartoony, but I like that. It always puts a smile on my face when I hear a soldier say "ahhhh." Just like when you hear scorpion says "get over here!"

Gameplay: 10/10
This is where the game really shines. Its a side scroller so the basic formula is go in one direction and kill everything you see, and I love it! It's just so much fun grabbing new weapons like a rocket launcher or a shotgun that are hidden in *surprise* crates. Also you can board new vehicles such as a tank or an ostrich (seriously) that are jus plain fun to drive. There is always a cool gameplay perk that will grab your attention such as a new enemy or vehicle or a crazy boss. That brings me to a point, this game is difficult. Sometimes you will want to break your controller because of it's difficulty. This game is not impossible I want to make that clear. It took me a while to beat the game but it is so rewarding that you have to beat it. It will frustrate you but stick by it and you will be satisfied. So once you kill a room full of enemies with your vomit (?) you will know what I'm talking about.

Replay Value: 7/10
Not it's strong point. Once you've finished the game your basically done, but not completely finished (whatever that means) With two unlockable missions, xbox live leather boards, and trying to collect everything in the game it will keep you busy.

Overall: 9/10
With amazing gameplay, fun missions and unlockables I would definitely recommend this game.

Thanks SNK for this great game and a thanks to me for having no social life so I can write this review.
