GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Review by Wavebird99
"Biggest Disapointment of 2004"
Well, EA has made some good James Bond games and some bad ones. This one falls under the "disapointment" category. EA had a great idea, being bad, and didnt execute it well. I would like to point out, I am not a halo fanboy and gave this game a fair chance. Im also a huge James Bond game fan so I was hoping for a decent game. I was very dissapointed.
Game Play - 6/10
Although the villian side of the Bond world is pretty cool, it isnt really what you expect. At times you feel like just blasting through levels rather than stratagizing to get the objectives. Most objectives will be to "clear this area" or "push this". This defiantly lowers the game. The E.V.I.L AI is not as smart as you thought it would be (even though they do take cover well). The Rogue Bonuses are a nice touch and add feel to the game. They are most likely the coolest part of the game. Now onto the actual goldeneye you get from Goldfinger. It was made by Scaramanga and you can upgrade it throughout the game. Although the upgrades are nice, but I find it hard to execute them effectively. The death traps can also be pretty cool too. Such as freezing someone in a giant freezer.
Graphics - 8/10
Not much to say, the graphics are decent and explosions, gunfire and death all look reletively nice.
Multiplayer - 7/10
An ok feature, but playing with your friends isnt so fun. You can set off death traps to kill your opponents and killing them is quite fun, but the multiplayer lacks the chaos and intensity of the oringinal Goldeneye and Halo/Halo 2. Still, quite fun.
Online - 5/10
I played it a couple of times and the controls were VERY sluggish. Your character would be running and be EXTREMELY slow. Its basically a bunch of gunfights and you trigger traps rarely.
Rent or Buy : Rent
I find that in this game, some people love it and some people hate it. Rent it to see what category you fall under. Try it out, see the controls and dont compare it to Halo 2.
Accoring to the Record (local newspaper) Goldeneye: Rogue Agent is the biggest disapointment of the year. I agree
