TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by Bass Delux
"New developer, but did bring out it's full potential..."
...Of course it did!
When I heard EA was the new game developer, I honestly didn't know what to expect. Fortunately, I was getting more than expected.
Overall: 8/10
The downside is the story mode, but it is recovered massively by all other modes.
Graphics: 7/10
A great change in the overall graphic area is the proportion of each character. Now, as opposed to TS1 and TS2, the characters have a much more realistic and appealing shape. As far as frame rate goes, I have had a few problems, but none that will interrupt gameplay. Cinematics are great and kind of awkward, but in the best way possible.
Story: 4/10
This is probably the weakest point of the game. At first it didn't feel like a TimeSplitters game at all. It was somewhat like Halo, and I found it very disappointing. Also, there are a few things that definitely do not flaunt that TimeSplitters quality. Blood and even stronger mutilation has been added to the game, which was a shocker to most long time fans. On question has been asked about this game, and I will gladly answer. Yes, there is that classic humorous dialogue. In fact, once I heard a couple of jokes, it became relevant that the game would end up a lot like the predecessors. a downside in personal opinion is that the time traveling doesn't alter your appearance as it did previously, but it turns out that the story wraps together in the end much stronger than it would if they had done it the classic way. The ending, however, was very horrible.
Sound: 7/10
The voice acting in this game is very well played. In a sense, it seems like a motion picture. The surround sound helps me pick out where an attacker is. Guns also have a crisp sound to them, each one has a special decibel level. I thought that gave the game a sense of realness. The music is vey well suited to the game. Some songs from past games have been added, but only a few. Lyrics are actually included in a portion of them.
Multiplayer: 9/10
This totally wipes out all multiplayer modes on ANY FPS, maybe even any game made. I'm serious! It is almost exactly like classic multiplayer. and there is nothing wrong with that at all. One of the coolest things added is the great phrase spoken by a chosen character. My personal favorite is Lenny Oldburn because he is a spoof on Ozzy Osbourne-Hilarious! The AI is much more intelligent. I think an awesome feature is the narrator, and thankfully his voice isn't annoying, like those used in other games. The best part, of course, is it is fully customizable.
Mapmaker: 9.9/10
I had to give it its own field. I was blown away by it. It is technically perfect, but it does have that wretched "free space" bar. The mapmaker this time is one that will never die. It will never be forgotten. The organization is phenomenal and the logic is amazing as well. Five tilesets (Military, Lab, Egyptian, Horror, and Virtual) are available, and no two are the same. More enemies can be placed, too. There are only 45 tiles, but some of the features added to them can expand possibilities. The roofs can be taken off of rooms. making it an outdoor area. Weather can be changed, as well as time of day. Death traps can be added as well. Beginners, I think, will not have any problems, because this time, the game tells you if the logic will not run correctly. I can't even tell you how great it is.
Replay Value: 9/10
The TimeSplitters franchise is all about replay value, and this is no exception. Buy this game because you will not regret it!
