TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by Rollo T
"Game Three Keeps The Classic Going."
Game Play: TimeSplitters is a game all in its own. It's too arcade like to be compared to Halo, but is unlike all other FPS out on the market. It's lighting fast game play is amazing, but overwhelming for first time players, but you'll quickly pick up the controls and have a blast. The story mode in the game is fun, but a little short, but co-op mode keeps things fun and interesting, as long as you have a friend of course. Arcade mode challenges players in arcade style matchups with some very difficult, but fun twists. Challenge mode is a whole different story. Challenge mode challenges players to do things that are... interesting. Challenges include driving remote controlled cats, using your force manipulating uplink to play basketball, and using an electric gun to keep robotic monkeys dancing. I told you they were interesting. While the challenges won't make you a better player more than likely, they do offer quite a challenge, and are fun to do. The map maker feature is back, and better. Now there are five different tile themes to choose from, the ability to add weather effects to your arenas, the ability to add cars and remote control cats, as well as many other things. The game play in TimeSplitters is amazing, and this game has kept the tradition going.
Game Play: 10/10
Audio/Visual: Graphic wise, TimeSplitters isn't the be all end all of FPSs, but the graphics are quite good. The best part of TimeSplitters visuals are its 60 frames per second framerate. It makes the fast paced action of multiplayer even more enjoyable as you never have to worry about the game lagging during big gun fights. The music in the game is great for TimeSplitters. It's mostly all very fast, well done techno music, but whether you like techno or not, you must agree this is great music. It's not any big orchestrated masterpiece, but it shouldn't
Audio/Visual: 10/10
Replay Value: 1 word (or 2 words depending on how you look at it). Multiplayer. In my opinion, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect's multiplayer is more fun than Halo 2's. If you have a group of friends you can have a blast playing any of TimeSplitters great game modes. The modes range from your standard deathmatch to virus, a mode where you try to be the last one tagged, to monkey assistant, a mode where the person in last place gets help from gun wielding monkeys. This ensures that you won't get bored with this game too quickly.
Replay Value: 10/10
Rent or Buy: Buy. No question. There's no way you can play TimeSplitters to its fullest in a week or two. Shell out the fifty dollars, its well worth it.
Rent or Buy: Definitely Buy
Overall: Overall, TimeSplitters is a classic, but the sad thing is, it will be a sleeper hit, because most people will overlook it with Halo 2 or other FPSs. If you ever played GoldenEye on the N64, PICK THIS GAME UP! The map maker feature, the multitude of game modes, the challenge and arcade modes, and the fun multiplayer features make this game a must have for all FPS fans.
