"There is no gold in this game...."

On July 31,1997 Goldeneye was released on the Nintendo and in many eyes is considered the best first person shooter ever. But, when the game called Goldeneye: Rogue Agent came out everybody was excited. But, little did they know this game had nothing to do with the one of Nintendo 64 and would forever give the Goldeneye series a bad name.

Story: 1/10

You are an agent in MI6 and all of the sudden you become rogue and decide to kill James Bond. In your first mission a bomb explodes and damages your eye. You team up with Goldfinger and he gives you a goldeneye with powers that make the game even easier than it already is. You use your powers to fight against Goldfinger's rival Dr.No.The story is very cheesy and Electronic Arts could have done better.

Game play: 3/10

The developers boast the use of their so called A.I. program called E.VI.L.They said this program made their A.I. more smarter, when all it did was make them more stupid. When you take an enemy hostage, the enemy will just kill them as if it were you. I mean would you open fire on your team mate if he was taken hostage? Also, when you are injured you will automatically heal in five seconds (This method is seen in Halo). The only reason why I don't give this section a one is because of the creativity of the weapon design.

Xbox Live and Multiplayer: 5/10

The multiplayer and Xbox Live consist of basic modes like deathmatch and team-deathmatch. On Live, you can host up to 16 people in one room, which is not that fun considering that there are no competitive modes like capture the flag. In certain maps there are switch-activated traps, that either set off a bomb or a fill the room with quick sand. The multiplayer is mediocre at it's best.

Final comments

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was a disappointment to gamers because when you hear the word Goldeneye, you expect quality and not anything below that. I would stay away from Goldeneye: Rogue Agent because it is a waste of money and time.
