Burnout 3: Takedown

"You will love it."

Burnout 3:Takedown(BO3) is the third installment in the crash based racing game. I highly recommend this game to anyone, it is THAT good.

GRAPHICS

Xbox has great graphic capabilities, and BO3 makes great use of it. Every car looks great, and the environments look clear and crisp. Some cars can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour, and having the wind rush by as they go so fast and how everything blurs up looks great.

SOUND

Sound might be the best part about BO3. The engines in the cars sound great, and the sound of the wind rushing by sounds realistic. For once, EA and Criterion did a pretty good job on the soundtrack; no rap. It's ok, but doesn't belong in a video game. Probably the most annoying part about the sound is the ****ing DJ Stryker. Fortunately, there is an option to turn him off, and I suggest you do that. Also, every time you crash, it sounds the same.

GAMEPLAY

Unlike other racing games, Burnout games focus on crashing. There are two mode types; race or crash. Crash is when you try to make as big a pileup as you can, and see how high it was worth in money. Race has a few types, such as Eliminator and basic race(and a few more). In BO3, you are supposed to take risks, such as driving on the other side of the road, to gain boost, which can help you win a race. If you crash, you can go into impact time, where you can steer your wreck into other racers, giving you aftertouch takedowns. Takedowns are when you force opponents to crash, whether it be thanks to a wall, car, or anything like that. Some takedowns are special, and will get you signature takedowns, a picture of the crash. If you get a Takedown on your opponent, or crash into them, the indicator above them will turn from yellow(good) to red(bad). If it is red, they will constantly try to get revenge on you.There are different cars to unlock, from a Compact type one to a firetruck. Also, there are three regions to race in, the US, Europe, and the Far East. Each one has a different set of challenges. The ONLY problem here is this scenario. You crash, and fall behind in a race. So you go to use your boost, only to find another car right in front of you, and you crash AGAIN, and fall further behind. Only gripe, but not enough to take away.

MULTIPLAYER

Multiplayer can be played on split screen or online. All of the classic modes come back, and in crash mode you can either try to get a higher score then your opponent, or co-op and try to get as big a score possible. Other then that, it's the same thing as SP, which isn't a bad thing.

REPLAYABILITY

There are lots of cars to collect in BO3, as I said before. Also, there are trophies to collect, and signature takedowns. In addition to multiplayer, this game should keep you busy for a long time.

Burnout 3 is a very good game that you must own. I still play this game a lot and Burnout Revenge looks great.
