Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures
Review by elitesniper90
"A great hunting game"
Cabelas has a few hunting titles on Xbox. Including, Dangerous Hunts, Deer Hunt 2004 and 2005, and this game. I have played all of them and this on is the best by far.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics aren't fantastic, but are certainly nothing to complain about. The water looks great and most of the scenery as well. Although every once in a while you'll come upon a tree that has the bottom "chopped off". That is probably the most common glitch in the game by the way. The weapon and reload animations look great also. You can choose between a third-person or first-person view. I think the game looks smoother in first person, but third-person is a nice addition.
Sound: 10/10
I have no complaints here. Everything sounds as it should. Wind blows, crickets chirping, animals moaning when you shoot them, bears growling when they attack you, and the weapons all have a distinct sound. At night time crickets chirp and it sounds like a real forest. The water also sounds great, especially waterfalls. The sound is great. It's sounds just like you are outdoors.
Gameplay: 8/10
The game is fun for the most part. You start out at a lodge. At the lodge you can buy or sell equipment, sleep, view your trophies, and get your tags. Then, you're off to hunt. Sneaking up on a moose and giving it a 30.06 round to the head is always fun. The only real complaint I have about the gameplay is that if your character gets hurt or tired, he/she is only able to move a short distance before becoming exhausted. Then you have to wait 20 seconds to get your energy back and it's quite annoying. If you are not injured or tired however, you can run quite a distance before you are out of breath. Other than that, the game plays very nicely and is very fun. My favorite thing to do is post up in a tree and wait for an unsuspecting animal to trot along. Then I put him in my scope, and BAM! Great fun. You also get different types of vehicles that include and ATV, a pickup truck, a boat, and a snow-mobile. All of which you can drive with a third or first person view.
Replay Value: 8/10
After you finish the campaign mode you will have unlocked all the maps for quick hunt. In Quick Hunt you can pick any map and pick from a set of three pre chosen equipment sets. You can also enter a tournament and do trap shooting, and skeet shooting. That kind of gets old fast but it's a nice feature for them to add.
Overall: 8/10
This game is fun whether you hunt or not. It sounds great, plays great, and has a fantastic selection of weapons and equipment.
Rent or Buy:
Not much point in renting this one. There is just too much to do. It's 20 bucks at best buy so why not buy it. It's definitely worth the price.
