Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Review by ShivaOritiner
"Short but Sweet"
Star Wars Episode III is a short but fun game taking you through the upcoming movie and letting you take on the roles of Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker.
GAMEPLAY -
The gameplay for Episode III is where the game shines. The Collective (the developers who brought us Buffy the Vampire slayer and Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb) provide a large variety jedi moves that give you the feeling that you can move the force. If you have played EA's Lord of The Ring's series than you will be right at home here. The button scheme is simple enough to get the hang of easy and by the first 15 minutes you'll be force throwing droids, twirling your saber and unleashing devastating combos.
As for the difficulty, the game does have the standard easy, normal, hard settings but easy and normal are pretty much the same standard while hard makes knowing your combos a help.
STORY
The story follows the upcoming Episode III movie nicely. The only thing about the story that could bother you is the fact that it incorporates actual movie footage and some of the scenes could spoil it for you. It also adds a nice little twist after you beat the game allowing you to "what if" anakin defeated obi wan.
GRAPHICS
The graphics on this version of the game are crisp. You can see the facial features well such as Anakin's scar down to General Grevious' shine on his armor. The backgrounds are rich and truly represent the environment in which you are. It really fells like you are on the planet of Mustafar, or the giant Separatist ship "Invisible Hand".
SOUND
The sound is probably the most impressive part of the game. All the classic John Williams scores are played throughout. The darker Anakin grows so does the music. This is so displayed when you are finally crowned Darth Vader and you must carry out your orders from Palpatine, leading a clone army to the tune of the Imperial March.
The sound effects are also very good with the right lightsaber hums and explosions.
PLAY TIME
The single player mode of this game is relatively short by todays standards. An average gamer could finish this game in 4-6 hours. But the replay value shows through in the multiplayer VS mode and the bonus missions (one in particular a famous duel from Star wars past). This allows the game to be enjoyed with friends finding out if Darth Vader could be Grevious and so on.
SUMMARY
If you want to know how it feels to be Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Anakin Skywalker, or the freshly born Darth Vader then this is the game for you. Its probably an excellent rental if you are not a huge star wars fun. But for the hardcore fan this game is a must have. It truly makes you feel the power of the force.
