The Incredibles
Review by percy boi
"Not Incredible, Not Bad Either!"
Introduction
The Incredibles, the latest Pixar Movie has now been made into a platformer revolving around the movie, unfortunately Pixar platform games haven't exactly been the best of the best. They have been shoddy and quite terrible. But this is another attempt so who knows maybe it can pick up on any previous Pixar Platforms and be pretty good, who knows, if the film was good I could expect the game to be better than any other Pixar game.
Game play
As you begin the game you may believe that this game jumps you straight into the fun but after 5 minutes the fun is sucked straight out of the disc as you face the same problems time after time after time but sometimes you may get exciting as you play as a different character for the first time but you will soon realise that the same problems are used over and over again. Fun just doesn't exist in this game.
Even though there is no fun you can actually feel challenged, the game first mission offers a training level which you can understand is quiet easy but as you progress I found the game surprisingly difficult to handle and took several attempts to complete each level, this is a two way system though, you may be happy to hear a challenge after easy platforming pixar games or this could be too difficult for small children looking for more adventure after the film, either way you can be happy about this or unhappy.
Controls
The controls are pretty original which stick to the basic platforming genre (X to jump etc) and if you are platform experienced which I think anyone is then you can't go wrong with this, there easy to pick up and well done, Just well done!
Sound
Just Average, nothing over the top done here with pretty low sounds, just the occasional witty remark or groan from the character and just low tone music playing in the back ground which changes every time you change a character or style of level, Pixar having exactly concentrating on Sound but I ain't complaining.
Graphics
Again average, at points the Graphics are blocky and unrealistic but at others the complexions are fantastic and look real but landscapes are a beauty and the best I have seen in any platform. The Characters look real but somehow dotty and too multi coloured for me too enjoy, its strange, Pixar have concentrated on the graphics but not on characters which take the main stage but on everything else that rarely gets notice.
Story
Just basically follows the movie story line. Mr Incredible used to be a superhero but due to sues from the government he had to settle down with married superhero Elastic girl and started a family with Dash, Violet and Jack, Jack. But after a strange calling card from an organization is given to Mr Incredible an adventure begins. Reviewing this game is like reviewing the film story, which I am not here to do so if you hated the film or the film story a main reason is not to buy it, I enjoyed the storyline but that's just me, the film may not have been popular towards you.
Replayabilty
Nothing to do, there are 18 levels in the game all at different scales but there are no difficulty levels to choose from so once you have completed the game there isn't much else to do, you could go back and unlock the bonus items you missed but you may be bored of this, I wasn't expecting net play but a multiplayer could have been added at least, there ain't much to do!
Buy or Rent
Buy: Loved the Film, Love Pixar, enjoy Typical Platforms
Rent: Wasn't sure on the film or platformer,.
Conclusion
I would recommend renting this game as the sheer fact that you may complete it in the renting time, as it could take about 2 days to complete if you can handle the difficulty which may cause small children to rip there hair out in frustration but this is still a good game, not great but a improvement over every other Pixar Game, its good lets just call it a average.
