Indigo Prophecy

"Just a few cents short of a masterpiece..."
Well, first of all, I would like to say that I, personally, had a lot of fun with this game. Considering that there were only 3 modes of gameplay: L-R games, Simon-Says games, and the regular third-person, static camera gameplay. I really enjoyed this game, although I realize that this is one of those movies where, if you're into the genre, you'll probably love it. If you're just a casual gamer looking for a nice weekend rent, definitely pick it up for a day or two. (That's all you'll need to complete it. XD)
I thought that the story, in and of itself, was incredibly exceptional. The sensational (although with quite poor dialogue) characters serve to tell the story in a seamless romp between all of the diverse environments. Some of the game's graphics are a little sub-complete, and you will occasionally see a "jaggle" every now and then, but after you get into the game far enough, the story becomes so incredibly enveloping, that the graphics seem so distant, you don't even really notice.
Probably my one outstanding complaint about this game is that the little "simon says" sequences will usually be playing in the foreground over some Oracle ass-whoopin. And try as we might to enjoy said ass-whoopin, we must focus on the boring, patternized colors. Other than them being placed in the most awkward positions in the game, I rather liked the "simon says" sequences. They were a breath of semi-fresh air from this world of FPSs and RPGs. A really well-made point-and-click adventure is a great break from the rest of these popular games, and, in my opinion, the best thing to hit the gaming market since HL2.
So, in conclusion, I thought the storyline was exceptionally sensational, the graphics were just fine, the concept was phenomenal, and the final product is polished and seamless. So, my one complain? Awkward event positioning, and a few other minor gripes with dialogue and such.
Verdict:
If you're a casual gamer, just passing by, stop and take a second look at this game. You might not regret it as much as you think you will. If you were into the point-and-clickers, buy it. The $40 price tag isn't all that bad, and it's worth a few shots through. If you're into the whole "mystery game" genre, you might want to rent it, although you'll probably end up buying it.
