The Matrix: Path of Neo

"Awesome!"

My brother bought this game and I played it so I just had to write a review.

Gameplay:8/10
It has great gameplay and is entertaining to keep you for hours on end. It gets a little repetitive though fighting Smith after Smith after Smith again and again and again. It is a great game for its gameplay though. As for hand-to-hand combat it is awesome. You can use many different types of martial arts moves including ones only Neo can do. You can also pick up melee weapons such as sticks, poles, swords, and other things including the pole from the famous scene were Neo beats the crap out of tons of Smiths. Guns are okay but not as effective as I would have hoped. The focus meter, like Max Payne's bullet time, also adds a twist to gameplay.

Sound:7/10
Some parts get silent when in focus mode and some of the cutscenes are loud and then quiet. That is the main thing I didn't like. Otherwise the sound is pretty good.

Controls:10/10
Great and easy to remember. Black to go up against a wall. Hold L to focus while attacking to make them more powerful, faster, and harder to block. Holding focus while jumping allows you to jump farther and run faster. You can focus to run up walls and even dodge bullets (unlockable) by holding focus and X while standing still. When you dodge it makes it look way cooler too. You can do this by pressing and holding L while pressing X and moving. Y is attack and keep hitting it to make combos. B is special attack (which is mainly stun.) You can combine B and Y to make better combos. Add focus and kick some butt! A is jump. Hold it and go farther (unlockable), and hit it twice to double jump (unlockable.) Left analog stick is move while you click the right to holster or pull out a gun. Use the right to select a target but it auto aims. I suggest you leave it on toggle in the control section otherwise you'll have to hold the stick to keep out your gun. Press left and right on the D-pad to select weapons and down on the D-pad to sheath or pull out melee weapons. The right trigger is shoot.

Story: 3/10
It cuts out alot of the story and most of the game doesn't follow the movie. It only took select parts and if you haven't seen the movie you won't understand it.

Characters: 10/10
Well it gives you only Neo to play with but you meet other Matrix characters as you go along.

Replayability: 9/10
Good. A game that must be played twice.

Overall: 8/10
Overall this is a great game that must be played by everyone that can get their hands on it! It is awesome just as the title describes.
