NCAA Football 06
Review by Lopper33
"Everything a College Football fanatic would want."
EA Sports delivers an outstanding football game once again. This year, NCAA Football improves so much on just about every aspect from last year's game with some much needed improvements. Also, in my honest opinion, this is the year that NCAA Football surpasses Madden as the best football game on the market.
Gameplay 10/10
The gameplay is this game is phenomenal. The improvements over the last are just fantastic. They finally perfected the passing in this to be realistic and not nearly impossible as seen in last year's game. Pretty much everything is back from the old game except the horrid passing.
Some controls, however, have changed. But only for the better. The way you strafe or juke is using the right analog in whatever direction. This takes some time to get used to but eventually one will see this is much superior than before.
One of the new features include the Race for the Heisman. Where you can take a high school standout and make him into a Heisman Memorial Trophy winner. This new mode is basically a four year dynasty with a personal player. But at the end you either can export this player to Madden or turn into a coach. Another new feature is the impact player. Playmakers on offense and defense have a white circle beneath them to indicate that this player is most likely to make the big play. Sometimes you would find the circle begin to pulse, this means the impact player is in the zone or pumped up to make a play. Home Field Advantage feature is back and better than ever. One disappointment, however, is there is no College Classics mode this year. The new features is what makes this game great.
Graphics 10/10
The graphics are amazing. Anything that you can imagine in this day of video games. The stadiums are look great, as well as the atmosphere is like you are there at the game. Famous ones like the Big House, the Horse Shoe, or the Swamp look exactly how you would think. The graphics are impressive.
Sound 8/10
The stadium crowds sound so real and loud according to how tough the stadium is to play at. You often hear the crowd do traditional chants. You also here the school's band play fight songs at the right time. What hurts the sound, is that the same three commentators (Nessler, Herbstreit, and Corso) are back for a third straight year with the same phrases old being said. A change of voice like Keith Jackson or Brent Musburger would be nice to hear. Other than the announcers, the sounds are great.
Multiplayer 10/10
Just the same from last year except for the improvements added. One can still play friends or strangers via XBox Live. Or just simply challenge head to head on the same television as often seen at parties, college dorms, etc.
Rent or Buy?
Definitely buy. A must have for college football fans or just regular fan of football.
