Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06

"“Tiger Would be and Should be Proud”"
Personal comment:
I love this game! I used to think golf was a boring game that old men and women play when they retired and reached an age when time and reality doesn't exist. This game changed all my perceptions of the game of golf and got me to buy a golf set of my own and actually play it in real life! Now that is a sign of a good game. I thought it to be a difficult game at first but then got to know all the characteristics of the game and started to be very good at it. This game is also very good if you know nothing about golf and its terminology like birdies, eagles, boogies, woods, irons, rough and par etc. You begin to use golfing slang like you've been playing golf for decades. Yes, the game is a bit difficult in places, but it's the challenge of golfing against Tiger and Hogan etc that is exciting and drives you to improve and eventually succeed. A great game that is one of my personal favorites.
Gameplay: 8/10
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 has a very different gameplay system to that of this predecessor, TW PGA T 05. The putting system is changed and the way you increase your skills has been completely redone, which I think is a good thing because this time around the skills you earn depends on how well you play. The swing system is still the good old one from 05 and there still is boost and spin which I loved about 05. The gameplay is all round improved, the animations are smoother and the physics are more realistic.
Graphics: 7.5/10
Nothing special here, it might be a bit better than 05 but there is not much difference. The courses are well done with swaying grass also rain, wind and trees are nicely done to create a golf sort of atmosphere. There is still a nice touch when you're hitting of the tee and you do a powerful shot the character seems to launch himself into the swing to emphasize the power of the shot you have just created for him.
Sound: 8/10
Menu music is fitting and ideal, no rock or hip-hop, which you would expect from the PGA. The in-game sounds are realistic and fit well into the whole feel of the game. The commentators are still very annoying and say some very strange and some times in accurate things. For example I hit an approach shot and the commentators blurted out that the golfer would not be happy with that shot, and the shot ended up in the cup, which is quite funny and puzzling at the same time (thank god you can turn them off). Birds chirp, the wind howls and crowd clap with enthusiasm that is all very good and fits nicely together to create a nice golfy sort of atmosphere.
Fun Rating: 6/10
TW PGA T 06 is a fun game to play an hour or so but then you should stop for the day because it can get extremely boring and repetitive (doing the same course four times over on the PGA mode just for one round). Play it day by day when you have time, and then you will get the most out of it, that's what I did and I loved it!
Replayibility: 2/10
No unfortunately, not really. Unless you want to make a new character and go through it all again. If you loved it that much, well go ahead. I just don't really think it's worth it.
Rent or Buy:
Buy definitely, if you rent you'll end up paying a lot because it takes ages to finish.
Final rating: 7/10
