TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by The Island Of Zeal
"If you have an X-Box, buy this game."
I have to admit, I didn't really want to buy this game at first, but I got a few gift cards for Christmas, and EBGames has this super uber dooper buy three get one free sale, so I picked up three games, it being one of them. I have to say that if I could go back in the past, I would've preordered it. Because, honestly it's one of the best games for the X-Box I've played in awhile. This includes those weird "Hay-Lo" games which everyone sells their virginity on E-Bay for.
Let's start off with the graphics. First thing: Dude, top-notch. I love the graphics. And you know what compliments high-end graphics? High load times! But guess what!? Load times are like, 10 seconds. Seriously, you can quote me on this. The load times are very short. Not like in Timesplitters 2 where you had to wait for 30-45 seconds for a game to load. Anyways, back to the graphics. The environments are very detailed, and the characters are nice themselves. Although one thing I've always hated about Timesplitters games: When another character swings at you, it never shows their swing, only the damage you receive. It kinda makes me twitch every now and then. But, I worry about other things most of the time.
The music. The music really goes along with the game, but it's not really all that great. I mean, it doesn't stand out too much, but it doesn't interfere with the game. The sound though, is very good. All the sound effects made by the guns, characters, and creatures are very high bitrate. And since we're on the sounds, let's talk about the voiceovers. You know, they get better and better each game, and Timesplitters improved voiceovers alot this time through. Not to complain about Timesplitters 2 or anything, but this time around, they're much better.
Storyline/Plot time! The story is awesome. Once again you follow Cortez to try to save the world. Your character doesn't change forms this time, and that makes it all the more fun. The plots definitely different, but really if you haven't played Timesplitters before, there's alot of things you'll have no idea about. Alot of the characters from previous games appear, and each character, when you select them now has a catchphrase they say. (I seriously went through each character selecting them to hear the catchphrases) I don't have much more to say about the plot other than this: If you haven't played any Timesplitters games before, you'll find yourself more confused by the plot than if you have.
Playability. This is one of those games that you can play over and over again. It's one of those games you have so much fun playing it, that you can pick it up a few months later and get readdicted to it. Besides different difficulties, there's also arcade leagues which you can play through which unlock cheats and different characters. The better you do on each mission, the more you unlock. It makes it all the more playable months later.
Bottom Line. This game is alot more fun that those silly "Hay-lo" games, and besides offering fast-paced gameplay, multiple gameplay scenarios, and high playability, it's also on X-Box Live. Although, I've never played it online, I'm sure that it's alot more fun that playing with bots. Since you can trade maps online, it makes Halo look like a thing of the past. Now throw away that silly FPS wannabe, and grab Timesplitters: Future Perfect today!
