Fable: The Lost Chapters
Review by The Island Of Zeal
"Better than the original. Worth trading in for."
So, I had nothing else to buy, or could think of nothing else to buy with my gift cards, so I picked up this. Since my Fable disc grew legs and walked off, I was excited to be in the Fable world once again. And even more excited that they now had put in more quests! So, I hoped that this would be a nice catch, for only $19.99, brand new.
To start it off, everything is basically the same since the original Fable. I was a tiny bit disappointed there were many new primary quests, but there were many optional quests that appeared which I knew weren't in the original. Also, there are now smaller quests, which you can complete by collecting certain items. There are also new expressions which you can use. I think Lionhead was out of ideas, but was trying to make a few extra bucks by re-releasing it.
Just in case you've never played Fable before, the graphics are very nice. The details are numerous, and you might even find yourself staring at your character in disgust at his appearance, or even sometimes in awe. Besides your character, you get suits which you can wear that improve his physical appearance, and make you more satisfied with his appearance based on your alignment. The environments are nice too, but I was disappointed that they had alot of restrictions on the places you could go. The lands felt a little too blocky to me.
The audio was very nice, and comparable to any Square game. Orchestrated very nicely, and sounds beautiful in-game. It goes along with the game real well, and sets the mood in each map.
To wrap things up, this new Fable is really improving the original alot, but it doesn't really help that much. If you're a die-hard Fable fan, or just wanna play some more Fable, I'd recommend this. If you've never played Fable before, make sure you get this instead of the original. I give Fable: The Lost Chapters a 8/10, for improving where the original left off, but not quite making Fable any more than it really was.
