======================================================================== GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 SPECIAL VEHICLE FAQ ======================================================================== Author: Johnny H. H. the 4th (Lancet Jades) Author's Homepage: http://www.evermoreforums.com/forums/index.php Version: 2.80 (completed July 14th, 2008) Sites with permission to post this FAQ: GameFAQs.com Neoseeker.com Gamesradar.com Cheatplanet.com GamersHell.com Supercheats.com Mycheats.com ======================================================== VERSION HISTORY ======================================================== 0.10 Completed May 3rd, 2008. Prototype edition. 0.15 Completed May 6th, 2008. Second incomplete edition. 0.20 Completed May 7th, 2008. Third incomplete edition. Added info on possible spoilers and about sites who wish to use this guide. 0.25 Completed May 8th, 2008. Fourth incomplete edition. 0.30 Completed May 9th, 2008. Fifth incomplete edition. Removed UJ (Unjackable) and vehicles therein from the listing of vehicles for much the same reason I didn't include locked cars in my PS2-era guides: it's pointless. Removed a lot of vehicles that turned out not to be special. 0.35 Completed May 9th, 2008. Sixth incomplete edition. Changed some stuff around a bit. First obtainable proofed entry! 0.40 Completed May 10th, 2008. Seventh incomplete edition. 0.50 Completed May 11th, 2008. Eigth incomplete edition. 0.60 Completed May 14th, 2008. Ninth incomplete edition. 0.70 Completed May 16th, 2008. Tenth incomplete edition. Identified Stockade unique vehicle! 0.80 Completed May 25th, 2008. Getting close to the end. Renamed who gives you missions to reflect who's mission % they count towards. 1.00 Completed May 29th, 2008. FINALLY FINISHED THE GAME. Removed a couple vehicles, looked into MOST vehicles in the two possible final missions. Still no obtainable proofed vehicles. 1.05 Completed May 31st, 2008. Thanks to people like Swift and Dmitry for helping me with confirming a lot of the special color vehicles. Poor Lost Zombie ain't so special no more. Added descriptions to unique color/feature vehicles. Laundromat is also confirmed not special. 2.00 Completed June 20th, 2008. Thanks to GTA_Loco, been discovering a LOT more new vehicles (and confirming older ones). Thanks man, you're a terrific help! Added a section reserved for Brucie's and Stevie's cars, because they're all (seemingly) unique, and all available under extremely similar conditions. Added a link to the GameFAQs topic about how to CP your vehicles! Decided to remove the unobtainable CP vehicles from the guide, as with the method to make them yourself, they're useless entries (like UJs were). 2.10 Completed June 25th, 2008. Some changes and additions. Jacob's red/black Virgo is only rare, and found the first official unobtainable that isn't CP. 2.50 Completed July 5th, 2008. Finished Brucie's vehicle entries, and refined and searched many more vehicles. Most work done by GTA_Loco on discovery of new vehicles. Theory for luster vehicles occuring. It seems that those vehicles that will have lusters have some or all of: green, red, blue, purple. This goes for both normally available ones (the black lustered Stallion) as well as mission-unique ones. Some have only appeared as one color, but I hope to discover its universal, thus making their documentation much easier. 2.80 Completed July 14th, 2008. More info on special vehicles, some tuner cars (the extended bumper Intruder) debunked, and more insight on lusters. More random encounter vehicles listed, and added its own subsection in the mission list. More info on CPing vehicles as well. ======================================================== ABOUT ======================================================== This guide is to assist those players who enjoy collecting rare or unique vehicles. This guide lists all known proofed, special property, unique, and even rare vehicles (which often have to be unlocked). I'd say more, but I pretty much just summed it up. Yes, this is the same preamble as my other guides. Copy/paste FTW. This guide was written with the X-Box 360 version, not the PS3 version. No differences are known as of yet, however there may be some. This guide is NOT a "rare car" guide. Vehicles that appear rarely, but DO appear in free roam (such as Infernus) do NOT qualify for the scope of this guide. Only cars that have some special feature such as proofing, special paintjob, special features, or can only be acquired via missions are included. CAUTION! This guide may inadvertently contain spoilers of story missions! While this guide's scope does not really involve spoiling anything, due to what is required of it, the potential for small spoilers, such as names or events is present. Just keep that in mind. ======================================================== TABLE OF CONTENTS ======================================================== 1: Terms in the guide 2: Safehouses and Parking Spots 3: Everything-proofed (CP) vehicles and how to create them 4: Unique vehicles 4.1 - Roman's Taxi 4.2 - Police Stockade (1st of 2) 4.3 - Police Stockade (2nd of 2) 4.4 - Romero's Hearse 5: Specially colored/featured vehicles 5.1 - Black Esperanto 5.2 - Beige Willard (1st of 2) 5.3 - Beige Willard (2nd of 2) 5.4 - Maroon Flatbed 5.5 - Red or Purple Luster Black Schafter w/ silver grill 5.6 - Red, Green, or Blue Luster Black Sultan 5.7 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (1st of 4) 5.8 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (2nd of 4) 5.9 - Rich Yellow Comet 5.10 - Bright Green Infernus 5.11 - Light Blue Super GT 5.12 - Yellow Patriot (1st of 3) 5.13 - Beige and Fuschia Voodoo 5.14 - Yellow Patriot (2nd of 3) 5.15 - Cavalcade w/ dark rims 5.16 - Yellow Patriot (3rd of 3) 5.17 - Dark Gray Sabre GT w/ black stripe 5.18 - Green or Red Luster Black Sentinel 5.19 - Metallic Blue Dukes 5.20 - Gray Banshee w/ black stripe 5.21 - PMP 600 w/ hybrid grill 5.22 - Freeway w/ large mufflers and engine 5.23 - Green or Blue Luster Black Contender 5.24 - Chrome Red Biff 5.25 - Chrome Red Sanchez (1st of 2) 5.26 - Pink Feltzer 5.27 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (3rd of 4) 5.28 - Pink, Light Green, or Light Blue Luster Gray Comet 5.29 - Gold or Orange Infernus w/ black side stripe 5.30 - Jet Black Lokus 5.31 - Chrome Red Sanchez (2nd of 2) 5.32 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (4th of 4) 5.33 - Red, Green, or Blue Luster Black PMP 600 w/ hybrid grill 5.34 - Beater Emperor w/ green roof 5.35 - Silver Banshee w/ black stripe 5.36 - White Cognoscenti 6: Unobtainable special vehicles 6.1 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill 6.2 - Speedo w/ flat-screens 6.3 - BP/FP Roman's Taxi 7: Rare vehicles 7.1 - NOOSE Cruiser 7.2 - Police Maverick 7.3 - Red and Black Virgo 7.4 - Black and Gold Huntley Sport 7.5 - Annihilator 8: Brucie and Stevie cars Brucie's Exotic Exports: 8.1 - Blue Banshee w/ white stripe (confirmed) 8.2 - Chrome Red Cavalcade w/ black rims (confirmed) 8.3 - Cream Feltzer 8.4 - Gray Intruder w/ dark gray bottom stripe 8.5 - Chrome Red and Black NRG 900 (confirmed) 8.6 - Gray PCJ 600 8.7 - Crimson PMP 600 (confirmed) 8.8 - Red Sanchez 9: Unconfirmed vehicles (NONE AT THE MOMENT) 10: Mission list 11: Frequently Asked Questions 12: Contact info 13: Credits 14: Boilerplate ======================================================== *1* TERMS IN THE GUIDE ======================================================== This is a listing of all the special terms used in this guide. BP - Bulletproof. This vehicle will not take damage from bullets. Windows cannot be damaged, and shots will not count towards the car being destroyed. Unlike the previous GTAs, tires are apparently also immune to being popped by gunfire. FP - Fireproof. This vehicle will not catch fire or otherwise take damage from molotovs. Tires can still catch fire unfortunately. EP - Explosionproof. This car is immune to explosive damage, such as from grenades, rocket launchers, or exploding cars. Does not stop the car itself from exploding if somehow critically damaged. DP - Damageproof. This car cannot be damaged by bashing it around (into other cars, walls, etc.) or by melee attacks (unproven). The car will still take cosmetic damage, such as dents and scrapes (even to the point of impeding functions, such as a wheel well being destroyed). CP - Comprehensiveproof. This combines the qualities of bulletproof, fireproof, explosionproof, and damageproof. UJ - Unjackable. Now that even locked cars can be jacked by breaking the windows, UJ means that Niko will simply refuse to break the windows and get in. Even breaking the windows anyways, he still refuses to open the doors. Beater - A rustbucket. One of the rusty, falling-apart cars that occasionally spawn. Used in the first nine levels of the Little Jacob's drug delivery missions. Jack - To jack a vehicle means to steal it. This is probably not a necessary entry, but I figured I'd add it just in case. Unique - This vehicle is unique and found in story missions only, or other limited-time availability missions, and thus can be missed altogether. Rare - This is used in the guide as an "unlockable" vehicle. Unlockable - This term in my guide denotes a vehicle that is only infinitely available either through story missions and/or by unlocking it at some point through the story, whether by completing a mission, finishing a side mission, or even a vehicle that is only available during a side mission, but is repeatedly available by doing the mission over and over at your leisure. Unobtainable - A vehicle that, for whatever reason, cannot be obtained and/or stored with its properties. NOTE: During some missions, AI drivers that you chase are given "super" stats: speed, acceleration, turning, etc, designed to ensure that you cannot catch up to them until the game deems it okay (usually involves the target reaching their destination intact). If you are in danger of catching up or passing them (or if you take a shortcut to do so), they hyper-accelerate to stay in the lead. They also tend to slow down and "wait" for you if you fall too far behind, although they never stop completely. Most of the unobtainable CP vehicles fall under this property, but not all that are given super stats are CP (such as when you have to follow someone, destroying their vehicle means failure, so they don't bother CPing it). Discovered by - This is not necessarily the first person to discover a vehicle, but rather the first person to report it to me. I will add the original discoverer if I'm able to determine who originally found it, however. Description - A description of unique color/feature vehicles and WHY they are unique. Formulated by - This is who informed me of the strategy to obtain the vehicle. Vehicles that were pointed out to be, but where I was given no strategy to obtain it often lead to me developing the strategy, although most will have the same entry for Discovered and Formulated by. NOTE: Vehicles that are given to you (such as the Rich Yellow Comet) have no strategy credits listed, as it is too simple to warrant credit. ======================================================== *2* SAFEHOUSES AND PARKING SPOTS ======================================================== Places to store vehicles. When you load a game, all stored vehicles are restored to top condition and health. Even destroyed vehicles will be repaired, so long as you get the carcass of the vehicle into the spot. Even Helicopters may be saved in parking spots. Each spot can hold two vehicles maximum. Any more than two get deleted. More than two cars can b e stored in a parking spot on a temporary basis, however. It will retain 3+ cars normally, however whenever you save and reload the game, you will find only two cars remaining, chosen randomly from any that were "in the space" at the time of saving. It was brought to my attention by Matt J that a viable strategy for most vehicles in missions is to park it in a parking spot, then commit suicide. This will fail the mission and the vehicle will stay. Parking spots are active from the very start of the game, even if you haven't acquired that property (or lose it, or never obtain it). Roman's Apartment, Mohawk Ave., Hove Beach (Broker) -Unlocked after The Cousins Bellic, lost after Roman's Sorrow Mallorie's Apartment, Joliet St., South Bohan (Bohan) -Unlocked after Roman's Sorrow Roman's New Apartment, Albany Ave., Middle Park East (Algonquin) -Unlocked after Hostile Negotiation Playboy X's Mansion, Xenotime St., Northwood (Algonquin) -Unlocked after The Holland Play (choose Playboy X) Ray's Apartment, Mahesh Ave., Alderney City (Alderney) -Unlocked after Smackdown ======================================================== *3* EVERYTHING-PROOFED (CP) VEHICLES AND HOW TO CREATE THEM ======================================================== Credit goes to noisyassassin, GTA_Loco, and people in this topic: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=933037&topic=43464167 COMPREHENSIVEPROOF VEHICLES Dating with any of the girlfriends. In the previous series of GTA, this type of comprehensive armoring would only be assigned to a single or a few of the vehicles involved in a given main story mission. GTA4 however introduces a different twist on this, in that you can actually unlimitedly “manufacture” or create this type of armoring on practically any type of vehicle that you desire to be CP. The trick itself of unlimitedly creating some armoring on a vehicle isn’t new at all given that in San Andreas and Vice City Stories you can basically do the same. However, in those series you can bestow on a vehicle only one or a couple of rather insignificant armoring, namely Explosionproof in VCS and EP/FP in San Andreas, whereas in GTA4 you can create the best type of armoring that you can have. You don’t even have to do any main story missions to perform this, as what it would involve only is to date any of your girlfriends whenever any or all of them is/are available already. This rather unimportant activity in the game and one that was largely ignored in SA now has a crucial role in providing you with comprehensiveproof vehicles that can be of valuable use useful for you. Your first opportunity to date a girlfriend will be with Michelle, right after the mission “First Date”. Eventually, when you have logged online, you will be able to meet Carmen, Alex, and Kiki also. Much later on as you unlock the characters of the McReary brothers, Kate, another girlfriend will also appear. STRATEGY Prior to dating your girlfriend, you must have a pistol, submachinegun, or grenades. The trick here is to scare your girlfriend while she’s with you in the car that will lead her to abandon your date. This is what will make the vehicle you’re using to become CP. For whatever reasons, this armoring will be acquired by the vehicle after your girfriend has dumped you. Except for Michelle, you don’t need to have a successful date first with the others before you can make the trick work. So to make a CP vehicle then, you must call on any of your available girlfriend and arrange for a date. Or if anyone of them calls you, go out with her. Now choose any type of vehicle that you’d like to make CP and drive over to your girlfriend’s place. Once she’s onboard already and you’re supposedly on your way to a place, just fire a single shot to scare her. After the cut scene where it shows your girlfriend abandoning you, the vehicle you’re driving will become CP. Just save it in your parking spot afterwards. This is the only way found so far to make a vehicle CP. If you scare your girlfriend in any other ways, your vehicle will remain normal. Try to space out your failed dates also, so as not to have any difficulty in inviting her to go out again should you wish to CP more vehicles. However, there may be times when this trick wouldn’t work with certain types of vehicles. It may be a case of glitch or the armoring can’t simply be bestowed on those vehicles. Take note however that Michelle will be gone for good after you’ve completed the mission “Snow Storm." Additionally, Kate will be unavailable after the final mission, regardless of whether you choose Deal or Revenge. The only ones that can be dated again are the internet ones Carmen, Alex, and Kiki. Related to this, there's actually one more way to scare a girfriend and that is either to bump her moderately with whatever vehicle you're using, or in the case of the Annihilator, shoot at her before she gets onboard but without killing her. Hitting her with a few rounds will scare her too, freeze your movement and allow her to get onboard your vehicle. After the cutscene transpires, your vehicle will be CPed. NOTE: If you attempt to do Police side-missions with a CP'd vehicle, it will remove its proofings. You can always re-apply them afterwards, but just be aware that you can't use them during the mission. NOTE 2: These vehicles seem prone to vanishing from parking spots while saving them. Be aware you may need to attempt it multiple times to acquire all properties, or to successfully save the properties. ======================================================== *4* UNIQUE VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles only appear during story missions, and once the game is completed, cannot be acquired without cheating. --------- 4.1 - Roman's Taxi --------- Missions: The Cousins Bellic, It's Your Call, Bleed Out, Easy Fare, Jamaican Heat, Roman's Sorrow Difficulty: * Required: Some mission failure or high Roman like stat (60%+) Discovered by: Common knowledge (Swift helped with identifying it as unique) Strategy: Just keep the one you can summon using Roman's friendship perk, although several of the listed missions leave you with a free one upon completion. You also use this during Roman's taxi missions. NOTE: It is missable because after some point in the story, it is replaced with a Cavalcade. --------- 4.2 - Police Stockade (1st of 2) --------- Mission: Three Leaf Clover (Patrick McReary) Diffculty: Impossible Required: Mission failure, a heavy vehicle, and huge cojones Discovered by: Helped by Metzger0528 Strategy: Two of these barricade the streets after you escape the bank. The problem is they are unjackable entirely. Even if you fail the mission, they will be unjackable. The only alternative is to push them to a parking spot afterwards. The problem? You keep that 5-star wanted level after failing the mission, so you'd have to push it with 5 stars. It's technically doable (hence why it's in this section), but don't count on succeeding. Just grab the next one available. The major kicker is, you can't escape the 5-star level first, otherwise the trucks will vanish when you return to push it back. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 4.3 - Police Stockade (2nd of 2) --------- Mission: Tunnel of Death (Derrick McReary) Diffculty: ** Required: Probably mission failure Discovered by: Chris Allen Strategy 1: This truck is transporting Aiden. Proceed to the point where you drive the van, and after losing the wanted level, drive to a parking spot instead of to the destination, then shoot Packie to fail the mission. If you wait until you reach the car, the van will now be UJ, and thus unobtainable. Formulated by: Lancet Jades with help from Ket Halpak Strategy 2: It may be possible to push it back to the parking spot using a heavy vehicle (or vehicles), while keeping the car close enough not to fail, if failure means that much to you. This is done once you arrive at the switch-over car later in the mission. Formulated by: Lancet Jades Strategy 3: Once in the Police Stockade and cleared of your wanted level, drive to a parking spot and blow it up using a grenade (a rocket may blow it off the spot). You can also shoot the engine until it explodes (this is the safest option). Quickly run inside and sabve the game, and it should still be there. Parking spots tend to eat destroyed cars, so time is of the essence. Formulated by: Lancet Jades and Matt J NOTE: It was brought to my attention by Matt J that strategy 1 may not work due to the Police Stockade being BP in all but its engine. Thus, strategy two or three may be a much more effective method. --------- 4.4 - Romero's Hearse --------- Mission: Undertaker (Francis McReary) Diffculty: *** Required: A gun Discovered by: Neo Strategy: This vehicle first appears at the start of the mission as the Hearse parked outside the church. It is UJ at this point though. You can either go after it and jack it after finishing the mission, or if you don't want to bother and don't mind failing, drive it to a parking spot when you get to drive it, and then shoot Packie. If you choose to try and wrest it from the driver post-mission, shoot at the vehicle. There's a good chance the driver will get scared and abandon the vehicle, leaving you free to take it (the other cars seem to be UJ after the mission, at least before they're spooked). Watch out for cops when getting it, though. Formulated by: Neo NOTE: This vehicle can appear randomly on the streets, but ONLY if you are driving one yourself. It is thus still unique, as unless you obtain it in the mission, you won't see one elsewhere. NOTE 2: I've heard reports of this vehicle randomly spawning various places even without driving one (such as around the cemetary). More input on this would be appreciated. ======================================================== *5* SPECIALLY COLORED/FEATURED VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles all have some special color of feature that the vehicle usually does not have. --------- 5.1 - Black Esperanto --------- Mission: Free Roam Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: An Esperanto with a flat black paintjob not otherwise available. Strategy: Found inside Roman's cab depot, either with or without a driver. Just jack it and drive it to a parking spot. However, your last chance to get this vehicle is before the mission Roman's Sorrow, as the depot is burned down during the mission. --------- 5.2 - Beige Willard (1st of 2) --------- Mission: It's Your Call (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: * Required: Mission failure Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: This is just a Willard with a beige paintjob. Strategy: This is the car the Albanian loan sharks drive, and is UJ. Smash the window or otherwise attack the loan sharks to fail the mission, then simply drive it back to your apartment's parking space, as it loses UJ after the mission has been failed. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.3 - Beige Willard (2nd of 2) --------- Mission: Bleed Out (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: ** or * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: This is just a Willard with a beige paintjob. Strategy 1: Again, the Albanians use this car. Dardan drives off in this, but once killed you can claim the vehicle yourself. You'll have to drive it and Roman's Taxi back and forth from wherever you claim it to your safehouse if you want to pass the mission, however. It is UJ before the chase, so you can't jack it then. Strategy 2: If you don't care about mission failure, just fail the mission at the beginning by killing Roman and drive it back easily. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.4 - Maroon Flatbed --------- Mission: Rigged to Blow (Mikhail Faustin) Difficulty: * Required: Mission failure Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: A normal Flatbed in dump truck mode. It is a dull maroon color. Strategy: This is the truck with the bomb. To save it, park it at your safehouse parking spot and shoot at it until it blows up (it should only take 3-4 shots maximum). Quickly go save the game, then reload. The truck should be waiting for you, all shiny and new (even though it was dirty in the mission). Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.5 - Red or Purple Luster Black Schafter w/ silver grill --------- Mission: Easy As Can Be (Brucie Kibbutz) Difficulty: *** Required: Nothing (Mission failure for drastically easier task) Discovered by: Lancet Jades (help from GTA_Loco) Description: This is a black Schafter with a red luster to it, along with black rims and a silver grill. Strategy 1: Follow the mission as normal up until you get in the Rivas' car. When the Schafter appears in the alley after the cutscene, kill the driver and claim the car. Carefully drive the car along with Rivas' car back to your Hove Beach parking spot, park the Schafter, and finish the mission. Formulated by: Lancet Jades Strategy 2: Same as strategy 1, except just fail the mission by driving the Schafter back yo Hove Beach. When you go far enough away from the Oracle you're supposed to take to Brucie, the mission will fail. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.6 - Red, Green, or Blue Luster Black Sultan --------- Mission: Easy As Can Be (Brucie Kibbutz) Difficulty: *** Required: Nothing (Mission failure for drastically easier task) Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a black Sultan with a red, green, or blue luster to it. Strategies: See 5.5 - Red or Purple Luster Black Schafter w/ silver grill's strategies. Sometimes a normal black Sultan (or two) appear, so you may have to restart the mission several times to find the color(s) you desire. Unlike the Schafter, two Sultans come after you after you leave the alley. One is parned outside the nearby exit, and the other drives in quickly after you leave. --------- 5.7 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (1st of 4) --------- Mission: The Master and the Molotov (Mikhail Faustin) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades w/ help from Coyote Description: This is a normal black Schafter with black rims, except that it has a silver grill as opposed to the normal black grill. Strategy: This is Mikhail's car. Drive it from the club back to a parking spot, then return and finish the mission. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.8 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (2nd of 4) --------- Mission: Russian Revolution (Roman Bellic) Difficulty: *** Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a normal black Schafter with black rims, except that it has a silver grill as opposed to the normal black grill. Strategy: --------- 5.9 - Rich Yellow Comet --------- Mission: No. 1 (Brucie Kibbutz) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: The yellow of this Comet is much richer and brighter than a Comet's normal yellow color. Strategy: This car is used in the street race. It is the same car as the DP Comet, so obtaining it is the same: simply keep it after the mission. --------- 5.10 - Bright Green Infernus --------- Mission: No. 1 (Brucie Kibbutz) Difficulty: **** Required: Mission failure Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a bright green colored Infernus. Such bright colors are not otherwise available on the Infernus. Strategy: You must fail the race to be able to obtain this car. Winning it would delete all your competitors, so you won’t be able to find this anymore afterwards. Complete the mission up to where you begin the race, but don't enter the marker. Find another vehicle (preferably a big one, such as an SUV), and park it near your Comet. Shoot Brucie, killing him and failing the mission. Next, get into the vehicle you fetched, and drive at the Infernus, trying to flip it over. Once flipped, the driver will flee. Proceed to flip it back onto its wheels, and then push it to the Hove Beach safehouse using the heavy vehicle you got. Be careful not to attract a wanted level during the push, or the police will make life difficult. Make sure you fail the mission by killing Brucie, otherwise he will drive you back to his house after failing. And if you don't force the other driver from his car, or kill him (after Brucie), the car will vanish even if you reach the parking spot. Not to mention he may try and drive away. To help avoid a wanted level for shooting Brucie, get one star before shooting him, then do so. When the mission ends, your star will be lost, the shots that killed him counting towards the level beforehand. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.11 - Light Blue Super GT --------- Mission: No. 1 (Brucie Kibbutz) Difficulty: **** Required: Mission failure Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a light blue colored Super GT. Normally only darker blues are available for it. Strategy: See 5.10 - Bright Green Infernus's strategy. --------- 5.12 - Yellow Patriot (1st of 3) --------- Mission: Blow Your Cover (Elizabeta Torres) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: A Patriot that is colored yellow. It does not have an American flag design on the side, and no other features (such as roof lights). Strategy: This vehicle is provided for you parked outside as soon as the mission begins. Simply park it in a parking spot and proceed with the mission as you please. --------- 5.13 - Beige and Fuschia Voodoo --------- Mission: Have a Heart (Elizabeta Torres) Difficulty: ** Required: Nothing Discovered by: Jesse Giramma and confirmed by GTA_Loco Description: This is a normal Voodoo with a beige-colored body, and a fuschia strip along the side. The fuschia color is special for this car - no other Voodoos have it. Strategy: Knock the car around enough that the trunk is open, then drive on uneven roads, over mounds, or off a jump. The bodies will fly out and you will pass the mission (although without getting the reward money). Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.14 - Yellow Patriot (2nd of 3) --------- Mission: Deconstruction for Beginners (Playboy X) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: A Patriot that is colored yellow. It does not have an American flag design on the side, and no other features (such as roof lights). Strategy: This vehicle is provided for you parked outside as soon as the mission begins. It is even parked in Playboy X's parking spot, so just leave it and it'll stay there. NOTE: It will ONLY appear if the west half of the parking spot is clear. --------- 5.15 - Cavalcade w/ dark rims --------- Mission: Deconstruction for Beginners (Playboy X) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: -Morbid- Description: This Cavalcade is otherwise normal, with varying metallic colorings (red, green, and blue at least) which are normal colorings for the SUV. What's special is it has dark-tinted rims as opposed to either the normal silver or gold rims. Strategy: This vehicle is the one Playboy X has the weapons stocked in. After getting in and retrieving the weapons, get back in and drive it to a parking spot, then proceed with the mission. Formulated by: -Morbid- --------- 5.16 - Yellow Patriot (3rd of 3) --------- Mission: Photo Shoot (Playboy X) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: A Patriot that is colored yellow. --------- 5.17 - Dark Gray Sabre GT w/ black stripe --------- Mission: Photo Shoot (Playboy X) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This car is a dark gray color with a black stripe, similar to the gray/black Banshee. Strategy: When you arrive at the location of your target, take a picture of him and send it to Playboy X. Take out the guy when instructed by Playboy X, and then get in the Sabre Turbo and drive it to your parking spot after you successfully complete the mission. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.18 - Green or Red Luster Black Sentinel --------- Mission: Wrong is Right (U.L. Paper) Difficulty: Required: Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This car is a black Sentinel with either a green or red luster to it. Strategy: Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.19 - Metallic Blue Dukes --------- Mission: Lure (Francis McReary) Difficulty: Required: Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a Dukes with a metallic blue color to it. Strategy: This vehicle appears underneath the target's window in this mission. Often times it is a black Dukes (not unique), however it sometimes is metallic blue instead, which IS unique. Drive it to a parking spot, then finish the mission. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.20 - Gray Banshee w/ black stripe --------- Mission: Meltdown (Ray Boccino) Difficulty: ** Required: Nothing Discovered by: Brendan Mills / Jesse Giramma Description: This is a Banshee with a gray color and a black center stripe, similar to the gray/black Sabre GT. Strategy: Niko automatically jacks this vehicle after the cutscene at the first destination. Simply drive it to a parking spot when you are supposed to meet Ray at the bridge - no mission failure necessary. Just make sure to reach that point with it intact. Formulated by: Brendan Mills / Jesse Giramma --------- 5.21 - PMP 600 w/ hybrid grill --------- Mission: Museum Piece (Ray Boccino) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Swift Description: This is a normal looking Mafia PMP 600 (gloss black coloring, and a small spoiler on the rear), except that it has a hybrid grill, which seems to be a combination of the normal grill (vertical bars) and the Mafia grill (a mesh-style grill). The hybrid grill has several vertical bars set over a mesh. Strategy: These cars are parked outside of the Museum. When you exit the building, shoot the guards near them and jack one, using it to escape the area and pass the mission, then park it at a safehouse. Formulated by: Swift --------- 5.22 - Freeway w/ large mufflers and engine --------- Mission: No Way on the Subway (Ray Boccino) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Decription: This is a normal red and black Freeway, except its mufflers and engine are larger than other models. Strategy 1: This bike is provided for you at the start of the chase. Just drive it to a parking spot after finishing the mission. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.23 - Green or Blue Luster Black Contender --------- Mission: Smackdown (Derrick McReary) Difficulty: *** Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Decription: A black contender with randomized features and a green or blue luster. Strategy 1: The target, Bucky, drives this truck. Shoot him out of it, then commandeer the Contender and drive to a parking spot. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.24 - Chrome Red Biff --------- Mission: Tunnel of Death (Derrick McReary) Difficulty: * Required: Mission failure (Strategy 2 may not require failure) Discovered by: GTA_Loco Decription: A solid red Biff, basically. It can come in all the various forms of the Biff. Packie drives this in the mission at the start. Strategy 1: When you blockade the police convoy, kill all the police, and when instructed to drive the police van, get in the red Biff instead and just drive away from the scene. This will fail the mission for leaving Packie behind, and despite failing, your wanted level will be cleared. Do not fail the mission in any other way! If you do this, your wanted level will remain, making your job much harder. You will also keep your wanted level if you don't kill all the police in the tunnel during the fight. Just drive to a parking spot and leave the truck. Formulated by: GTA_Loco Strategy 2: Once in the Police Stockade, do a U-Turn near your own truck and exit the tunnel in the other direction. If lucky, you can lose your level by the end. Then turn around again and return to the site of the shootout. The Biff may be there still. If it is, drive it alternating with the Stockade until you reach your Alderney parking spot. Park the Biff, and finish the mission. Formualted by: Lancet Jades (UNTESTED) --------- 5.25 - Chrome Red Sanchez (1st of 2) --------- Mission: Truck Hustle (Phil Bell) Difficulty: * Required: Mission failure Discovered by: GTA_Loco Decription: This is a solid red Sanchez found at the end of the mission. This solid red color can't be found on other Sanchezs. Strategy: Do the mission as normal, proceed to a location where you must wait for the truck to arrive. Engage the gangsters until everyone’s dead, and then steal the truck from the driver and head over to the old mansion. After you’ve completed your task, you’ll the Sanchez parked in front of you. Just drive it your parking spot and save. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.26 - Pink Feltzer --------- Mission: ...I'll Take Her (Gerald McReary) Difficulty: *** Required: A gun Discovered by: guitarmasterpwn Decription: A bright pink Feltzer. It is always a convertable, not covered. Strategy 1: You drive this car during the mission. While you can always fail the mission by shooting the girl and drive it to a parking spot, you can also shoot the guy after the mission and claim the car yourself that way. Formulated by: guitarmasterpwn Strategy 2: Alternatively simply fail the mission somehow, such as shooting the girl. Much easier than the above strategy, but (obviously) requires mission failure. Formunated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.27 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (3rd of 4) --------- Mission: Pegorino's Pride (Jimmy Pegorino) Difficulty: * Required: Mission failure Discovered by: Swift, confirmed by GTA_Loco Decription: This is a normal black Schafter with black rims, except that it has a silver grill as opposed to the normal black grill. Strategy: You drive this car during the mission. It will vanish at the end, so your only choice is to shoot Pegorino (or otherwise fail the mission) and drive it to a parking spot. As there are two others that don't require mission failure, get it from a different mission. Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 5.28 - Pink, Light Green, or Light Blue Luster Gray Comet --------- Mission: Hating the Haters (Bernie Crane) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Dmitry Lebedev, also found/confirmed by ShadowDemon99 Description: This looks like a normal gray Comet at first, but it actually has a pink, light green, or light blue luster to it if viewed correctly in light. This makes it different from the normal gray Comets. Strategy: This car is found parked near Bernie's place when starting his first mission (exact location unknown). Just drive it to a parking spot and go on with the mission. Formunated by: Dmitry Lebedev --------- 5.29 - Gold or Orange Infernus w/ black side stripe --------- Mission: AFTER Buoys Ahoy (Bernie Crane) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Swift (both colors), Jesse Giramma (mission) Description: This Infernus comes in either an orange color or a gold color, both with a black stripe along the side. It is still unknown the conditions that generate each color, or if it is random (and if so, when exactly the color is randomized). Strategy: This car is given to you by Bernie after finishing his mission strand. Just drive it to a parking spot. NOTE: This is given to you AFTER the mission. Bernie will call you and let you know where to pick it up. It will be there until you actually go and collect it, so it may be safe to just store it where it appears instead of picking it up and parking it somewhere. --------- 5.30 - Jet Black Lokus --------- Mission: Entourage (Gambetti) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco Description: This is a jet black Lokus. The black is much more solid and darker than the Lokus' usual black. Strategy 1: Just finish the mission using one of the cars, then drive it to a parking spot afterwards. --------- 5.31 - Chrome Red Sanchez (2nd of 2) --------- Mission: If the Price is Right (Roman Bellic - Deal) Difficulty: * Required: Nothing (Mission failure if you want to follow Revenge) Discovered by: Swift, confirmed by GTA_Loco Description: This is a solid red Sanchez found at the end of the mission, used for chasing the truck. This solid red color can't be found on other Sanchezs. Strategy 1: Simply finish the mission and drive this to a parking spot. Can't get much simpler. Strategy 2: If you want to get this vehicle, but don't want to commit to the Deal story path, fail the mission after reaching the Sanchez. Either let the truck get away, kill Phil, or something else. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.32 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill (4th of 4) --------- Mission: A Revenger's Tragedy (Roman Bellic - Deal) Difficulty: ** Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: This is a normal black Schafter with black rims, except that it has a silver grill as opposed to the normal black grill. Strategy: A few of these are in the compound you assault after the chase. Drive one to a parking spot, then resume the mission. Just be careful not to destroy it during the firefight. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.33 - Red, Green, or Blue Luster Black PMP 600 w/ hybrid grill --------- Mission: Out of Comission (Roman Bellic - Revenge) Difficulty: ** Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades and Swift Description: These are unique for various reasons. First, they have a spoiler like other Mafia PMP 600s. They have either a red, green, blue, or black luster that often looks plain black until it's in light. Aside from that, they also have a grill that is a hybrid of a normal PMP 600 and the spoiler-equipped PMP 600, just like the Museum Piece PMP 600s. Strategy: A few of these are in the compound you assault after the chase. Drive one to a parking spot, then resume the mission. Just be careful not to destroy it during the firefight. The colors of the three PMP 600s parked at the site are randomized, so mission failure may be needed to collect all four if you so desire. Formulated by: Lancet Jades --------- 5.34 - Beater Emperor w/ green roof --------- Mission: Little Jacob's Job - Drug Delivery Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: GTA_Loco (someone else emailed me about this - email me back if it was you) Description: This is a typical beater Emperor car, except that it has a light green roof, an oddity for this car. Strategy: This is randomly used in Jacob's drug mission. It often only appeares in later levels (most notably the 9th mission). Just save it from the mission. --------- 5.35 - Silver Banshee w/ black stripe --------- Mission: Hossan random encounter Difficulty: ** Required: Nothing Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: This is a silver-colored Banshee with a black stripe. Differently colored than the gray Banshee of similar appearence. This can either be convertable or a hard top version. Strategy: This car is driven by the target in the mission. Shoot him out of it, then get in and finish the mission, delivering it to a parking spot afterwards. --------- 5.36 - White Cognoscenti --------- Mission: Gracie Ancelotti random encounter Difficulty: * Required: Nothing Discovered by: Spectre95 Description: A pure white Cognoscenti. A solid white is unavailable elsewhere, including pay n' sprays. Strategy: This car is parked in the parking lot of Gracie's house (where she appears in the encounter). After taking out her guards, just drive it back to a parking spot Formulated by: Spectre95 ======================================================== *6* UNOBTAINABLE SPECIAL VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles are unobtainable for whatever reason is listed. This can include any vehicle type from the previous three sections, but as they cannot be acquired permanently, there is no need to put them in those sections. --------- 6.1 - Black Schafter w/ silver grill --------- Mission: The Cousins Bellic (Roman Bellic) Discovered by: Lancet Jades Description: This is a normal black Schafter with black rims, except that it has a silver grill as opposed to the normal black grill. Unobtainable: It exists only in the opening cutscene of the game, being inspected on the ship, and finally being loaded off as Niko disembarks. One pan of the camera late in the cutscene shows that the grill is silver, the same one as used by russians throughout. --------- 6.2 - Speedo w/ flat-screens --------- Mission: Crime and Punishment (Mikhail Faustin) Discovered by: Swift Description: This is an always-black Speedo with flat-screen TVs in the back. This is the van you must obtain for Faustin. Unobtainable: If you fail the mission and park it in a parking spot, the TVs disappear, and it reverts to a normal Speedo. --------- 6.3 BP/FP Roman's Taxi --------- Mission: Roman's Sorrow (Roman Bellic) Discovered by: GTA_Loco and Jesse Giramma Description: This is a normal Roman's Taxi, except that it is BP and FP, but NOT EP or DP. Unobtainable: It loses its properties if the mission is failed, or if you proceed with the mission. ======================================================== *7* RARE VEHICLES ======================================================== These vehicles aren't anything inherently special, but are nonetheless unique for various reasons, often requiring completion of a mission or side mission to unlock. These can all be obtained at the end of the game without any problem --------- 7.1 - NOOSE Cruiser --------- Unlocked: Not unlocked, just very rare Found: Shows up randomly at 4+ stars. This car has a different paintjob than normal Police Cruisers, and the row of siren lights are a flat, small row, as opposed to the more prominent v-shaped row of normal cars. Missions the car may also be found in: Three Leaf Clover --------- 7.2 - Police Maverick --------- Unlocked: Not unlocked, just very difficult to get Found: Shows up as chopper support at 3-4 stars (5-6 has Annihilators appear). Getting it can be difficult. Strategy 1: Go get 3 or 4 stars and get into a heli. Then fly to your safehouse (I used the one in east Algonquin) and wait for a Police Maverick to come. When it has arrived, smash it in the building (sometimes more then once) and it will crash down. If done correctly, it will not explode. (You can do the following when the heli is on fire, but it is NOT recommended, because you need to be quick) Now the tricky part: Afterwards land the heli, steal a Police car, push the heli properly into your safe spot and go save quickly. (It is hard, because you need to do it with all the police!) If you parked it properly, the police will be gone, and a shiny new Police Maverick will be waiting! Formulated by: Ronald Jansen Strategy 2: First you need to have achieved a high percentage with Kiki to unlock her ability to remove your wanted levels. Next, steal an Annihilator attack chopper from somewhere in the city (see 7.5 - Annihilator for info on where and how it can be obtained). Now create mayhem until you have 3 stars. Don't reach 4 stars or Kiki can't remove the level. Once the police helicopters appear, use your own and smash it up. Ram it into buildings and other things to try and clip its blades. Be careful when it crashes, as the SWAT members inside may survive the fall to continue fighting. Once you've successfully grounded the police chopper, call Kiki and emove your wanted level. Proceed to push the downed helicopter into a parking spot, and then save. You'll now own the heli! Formulated by: GTA_Loco --------- 7.3 - Red and Black Virgo --------- Unlocked: When Little Jacob's perk becomes available Found: Call Little Jacob and ask for him to deliver some guns. He'll show up in this car. It's UJ, so shoot Jacob (it shouldn't hurt your Like or Respect stats with him), push it to a parking spot using another car, and save. Description: A red Virgo with a black bottom. Normally, either the only have a black stripe, or a brown bottom. Missions the car may also be found in: Concrete Jungle, Russian Revolution, Mr. and Mrs. Bellic --------- 7.4 - Black and Gold Huntley Sport --------- Unlocked: When Brucie becomes available as a friend Found: Call Brucie and go on the boating activity. You use this en route to the boat. Description: A Huntley Sport with a black top and gold bottom. --------- 7.5 - Annihilator --------- Unlocked: Shoot all 200 "flying rats" Found: On the helipad at the very top of the MeTV building in Star Junction. NOTE: This may be found elsewhere with different conditions (such as finishing the final mission). Other locations in progress. Missions the helicopter may also be found in: The Revenger's Tragedy, Out of Comission ======================================================== *8* BRUCIE AND STEVIE CARS ======================================================== These are the vehicles that you acquire for Brucie's and Stevie's missions, where you are either emailed or texted a specific car to find. Brucie's cars are in a random order each playthrough. Strategy: Instead of delivering the car to the lockup, park it in a parking spot, then shoot the car until a message pops up saying "The car is too damaged to deliver." Go save the game, then reload (as the car will likely be on fire due to damage). NOTE! For Brucie's cars, I'll mark which ones are confirmed special. For the rest, I'd like people's input on whether or not they ARE (I saw a very similar PCJ 600 right after delivering it, for example). BRUCIE'S 'EXOTIC EXPORTS' CARS (requested via email) --------- 8.1 - Blue Banshee w/ white stripe (confirmed) ~This Banshee is blue-colored with a white stripe. It is a convertable, not a hard top. --------- 8.2 - Chrome Red Cavalcade w/ black rims (confirmed) ~This Cavalcade sports a solid, bright red coloring, along with black rims (the color of these rims differs from the Deconstruction for Beginners one). --------- 8.3 - Cream Feltzer ~A cream-colored Feltzer. It is always a convertable. --------- 8.4 - Gray Intruder w/ dark gray bottom stripe ~This Intruder is a rich gray color, with a very dark gray stripe along the bottom of the sides. --------- 8.5 - Chrome Red and Black NRG 900 (confirmed) ~This NRG 900 is a mixture of a solid red, with a large black segment along the middle. --------- 8.6 - Gray PCJ 600 ~A light gray PCJ 600 with a black seat and normal colored spokes. --------- 8.7 - Crimson PMP 600 (confirmed) ~A normal PMP 600 with a deep crimson color. It has a normal grill, not the Mafia or hybrid version. --------- 8.8 - Red Sanchez ~A red sanchez (more info needed). --------- ======================================================== *9* UNCONFIRMED VEHICLES ======================================================== These are vehicles that are as of yet unconfirmed. They are thought to exist with whatever special properties they are mentioned, but whether they can be obtained as such, or even CAN possess said properties is unknown. Credit will go to whomever can provide evidence they exist. A: Email me, and let me know. You will receive full credit for it. Q: [Insert vehicle] doesn't possess a property you said it did! A: Most likely, you did not follow the precise strategy. If you did, and it does not retain its property, contact me and say so, although I personally check each and every vehicle. Q: [Insert vehicle] isn't special, but you still have it listed here! A: Send me the info on where it can be found at any time (especially the end of the game), and I'll adjust or remove it from this guide accordingly. Q: One of the vehicles you listed is one I discovered first, and here's proof! Thief! A: If you have proof you discovered a vehicle first, show it to me and if I determine you really did discover it first, credit will be given. Q: You missed the DP Yellow Comet in Brucie's "No. 1" mission! A: The car is not damage-proof. It has a rear engine, so bashing around the front of the car doesn't damage it as easily as front-engine vehicles. Q: There's this car, the Sultan RS, that's special! A: NO IT ISN'T. It is not special because it's available infinitely. PLEASE stop IMing/emailing me about this. It constitutes about 75% of the total emails/IMs I get about this game. ======================================================== *12* CONTACT INFORMATION ======================================================= THERE WILL BE A LOT OF INFO I NEED, THINGS TESTED, VEHICLES DISCOVERED, AND SO ON. DO NOT HESITATE TO EITHER EMAIL ME OR POST A MESSAGE ON THE GTA4 360 FORUM (NOT PS3). My screenname is LancetJades on GameFAQs. Feel free to IM me on AIM as well. If I don't respond, I'm not ignoring you, I just tend to wander away from my computer at times. If you wish to contact me, just email me: lancet jades at g mail dot com (remove the spaces, obviously, and replace the at with the proper sign) Alternatively, IM me at: AIM: Lancet Jades YIM: lancetjades (not on often) MSN: psionicsword@hotmail.com (rarely on) I never check my @hotmail.com address, so don't send mail to it. I don't mind being contacted about this game, so don't hesitate if you have a question or comment. But if you're gonna flame me, it won't work (I'll just have a good laugh and ignore you). I also don't check my yahoo email address, so don't bother sending any mail there either. I'm a perfectionist, so if you have anything to contribute or correct, please do so. You'll receive full credit (credit goes to the screenname you talk to me from, so if you want another name, you have to specify it). Even if you're pointing out a spelling or grammatical mistake, please do so, no matter how small. Note however, I live in the U.S., and as such, spelling it "color" instead of "colour" is NOT a mistake. If you wish to use this guide on your site, aside from asking my permission, I require you in question to automatically fetch any updates I make from GameFAQs.com yourselves. I only update to GameFAQs.com and if I discover other sites carrying my guides have out-of-date versions, I will ask that it be removed. ======================================================== *13* CREDITS ======================================================== Aaron M. ~Info on Brucie's Huntley Sport.
