Halo 3
Question from mitchhoward
Asked on: 12/17 3:13AMThis problem happens every time and I just bought the game yesterday. It eventually loads to the title screen but I cannot play solo or get into campaign lobby. I do have an Xbox360 arcade without a hard drive. Do I need a hard drive to play is that my only problem?

statusYes. An HDD is mandatory if you're going to play Halo 3.
I recommend the 160GB model if you have Xbox LIVE, as you'll be getting lots of DLC.
I believe that you need some type of memory to store system settings and your profile and such. However, an HDD is completely unnecessary along with a 160 Hard Drive. I myself have used a 20 GB hard drive since it first came out in 2005...I have like 3 GB left. And that's with all the Halo 3 DLC and Rock Band songs and demos etc. I don't know when you'll ever need 160 GB of DLC - especially since you'll have to pay for it. Also check if your disc is scratched. Mine is, and I can't play campaign, but I don't get the green sceen that you get. Good Luck.
it even says in the manual that you can play without a HDD, but it optimizes gameplay, (DLC) and check if your games scratched, or just take it back, i guess you have a recipt and its not used?
Check ur cables to make sure there in completely this use to happen to me
It sounds to me like your Xbox is on the way out.
You need a memory card or a hard drive :)
Well it depends. Do you at least have a memory card? If not that might be your problem. If that doesn't work look at the power cord and see if it is set to the tv you have.{ hd, tv ...}. Or your game was mest up like mine when it said I was evil.
I'm pretty sure you need a hard drive. If you get a hard drive and you still have that problem, then your Xbox 360 is pretty much dead.
Off topic but kinda strange: When i went to play my Xbox 1 it froze for a bit then said "you will die you will die" o.o luckily that thing is out of the house.
You don't need a HDD, I didn't need one when I first played this. Is the disk heavily scratched? If so then that could be your problem.
HDD's aren't necessary, but some form of MU is.
If your 360 is doing that then just manually override the system. to do this just pop off the front cover hit the power button and the reset button at the same time. if your XBOX doesnt have mainly just go buy the override disc at GAMESTOP.
Your disc is probably scratched.
You cannot play campain (as i am aware) (correct me if im wrong) with out a hard drive. this problem has happened with many friends and the only solution for campain is to buy a new hard drive.
Can u hear game sound when the screen is green? I know this probably wont help but you could try changing the settings from your xbox control settings to put it onto a lower refresh rate ie change it to 50 hz, and there might be a few other settings you can change, i'm not at home at moment so i cant check, but some original xbox games dont work and screen goes blank until u change settings on certain tv's

Im sorry but u need a hard drive to play halo
You need to(in order): 1. Override the xbox 360 2. Get new cords 3. test the disc. I did this when i had the same problem.
Your game is just scratched a lil bit man happens all the time
#1 try someone elses game on your xbox while they try yours.
#2 if the your friends game does the same you either probably but EXTREMLY unlikely to mix up the cords or the disc is scratched or you haven't adjusted the colour and brightness on your TV.
U need a hard drive any will do unless u have a red ring
