Is there a way to apply the update without being connected to Live?

I downloaded the 1.7 update before ever actually playing the game. But when I started playing, the update has not been applied. The update is definitely on my hard drive. Is there a way to get the game to use the update without being connected to Live? I don't usually keep the 360 near the router, so it's a bit of a hassle to bring it to another room to connect to Live.

Answer

After you download the huge 700MB 1.7 update there is a tiny "activator" update that requires you to connect to live to fetch to apply the 1.7 patch.

Quick way to see if you have the newest version is when you start the game is the burnout logo red or blue, if red it is an old version, if blue then it is new, also you should have bikes in your junkyard as well.

Answer

You need to be connected to Live in order to download the title update (tiny though) required for Burnout to use the 1.7 update. When signed in to Live, it will download automatically when you start the game.

You could take your hard drive/memory unit (whatever you store your profile on) to a friend who has a Live connection, boot up the game, let it download the update and then use it offline on your Xbox.
