"Well, its better than.....some Playstation games."

I was really psyched to be getting this game. I buy a baseball game every year, this year I got two, (MLB: The Show '06 for PSP) and I was told this was my best choice. I believed that because the game cost me 60 dollars.

This is where the game took the biggest hit. For "next-gen" graphics, this game looked pretty lame. Seriously people, I felt like I was playing my N64 at some points. Yeah some of the players look great and very polished, but those "some" make up only about 4% of the major leagues. Very disappointing.

Audio:: 8/10
They actually did a pretty good job in this department. They obviously put a lot of effort here. The crowd sounds very realistic, including cheering, taunts, and chatter. The umpires make there calls very fluently. The best of the audio, however, is the announcers. Just wonderful, makes me feel like they are announcing the game live. Sure at some points they say the same crap over and over, and that gets old, but there isn't too much of that so its nothing to worry about.

Controls: 7/10
Not to much to say about the controls. They are basically just pretty average. Pitching and fielding are very easy for the most part. But hitting swing stick takes a while to get used to so I recommend playing a bunch of practice games before starting on XBL or season mode.

Game Play: 6.5/10
There were some great things including, but also some potentially great things left out. First of all, MLB2k6 is the only game on the market to include the WBC, (World Baseball Classic), which is a pleasant surprise. Also, just like most baseball games the normal stuff is included; Exhibition, Home run Derby, Season mode, Franchise mode, and some other generic baseball play-types. XBL play is also included. However, one thing that I really wish was added, was Career mode. I fell in love with career mode in MLB The Show, and was extremely upset when I popped this game into my 360 only to find career mode absent, to quote myself, "Damn, Bummer".

HOG (Hours of Game Play): 8/10
Basically any sports game has a decent HOG, because there is nothing to stop you from just doing seasons over and over again. This game however, is somewhat better. First of all, the XBL play is pretty good, and I guarantee you'll spend endless hours on that. Also, Franchise mode allows you to own the team for more than one season, and it is fun to see how you team progresses. Not to mention playing multi player with friends is usually fun.

Graphics: 4/10
Audio: 8/10
Controls: 7/10
Game Play: 6.5/10
HOG: 8/10
Overall: 6/10

Rent, Buy, or Pass?
Well, honestly, its not to impressive of a game, but you should rent it to see if you like it. Although, I would suggest going with MLB The Show instead.
