"Not a next generation flight simulator."

Over G perhaps had potential; however it appears the game was rushed or not finished. As a result, the game has flaws in many critical areas.

I'll begin with the graphics which are well to be frank, bad. Over G lacks the amazing effects and graphics one expects while playing a Xbox 360 game. First, the objects in the game largely lack detail. Aircraft, planes, buildings, and missiles feel like clay models with a quick paint job. Second, the water lacks any type of new effects such as transparency. Third, the ground is graphically comparable to flight simulators in the mid 90s and contains very few features. Largely the only thing one finds on the ground is what appears to be a single tree consisting of 3 flat surfaces stuck together and subsequently copied all over the map.

Next, we have to examine the sound. First, the game lacks in mission music. Second, explosions and engines noises sound too soft to be realistic. Third, the game seems to be lacking sounds for many things which need it, such as switching between your weapons on the display or a sound for the afterburners.

Also, the game has severe gameplay issues. First, the game feels unnaturally slow for a flight simulator. Even flying just above the ground you feel more like you are going 5 mph than 500 mph. Second, the game lacks a natural feeling control scheme. For example, you can start a turn using the control stick, release the stick, and the plane won't stop turning for almost another second almost as though the game were lagging. Third, the missions are repetitive, short, and boring. For instance, one mission several missions into the game can easily be finished in less than 15 seconds. The repetitiveness comes from the fact the missions usually involve an extremely ordinary objective, such as destroy 2 planes, which requires you to point your plane in the direction of the enemy, launch your missiles, and then the mission ends. Finally, the missions lack an interesting storyline behind them. The only good thing gameplay wise is you have the ability for some limited customization of your aircraft.

In summary, Over G fails to deliver the fast paced and extremely realistic feeling one would expect from a next gen. fighter gamer. Instead it delivers a boring, largely unoriginal game which feels artificially slow and is not immersing in any way.
