"Good WWII game except 2 was better"

Story and all that good stuff

Like Call of Duty 2 you play as different allies during World War II. This time around though there are different ones. You play as the Americans, French, British, Canadian, and Polish. Each ally has different weapons you start off with, all are vintage to WWII. Each mission you are asked to do is different from the previous one so it makes the game fresh and seem less repetitive. There are tank missions where you basically blow the German tanks and vehicles up to recon missions where you have to get hostages.

The story did somewhat confuse me with all the jumping around in the beginning but towards the end of the game it made more sense. You go from being American, fighting through a town, right to the French where you destroy a factory complex so you can see where the confusion sets in. The French portion of the game didn't really fit into the ending of the story at all it seems to me. In the overall aspect of WWII, it works, just not for this games story.

The allied AI sometimes seem like they are blind and like a fat chick in front of you in a small aisle and you want to get through. They do help you out but a lot of times when you walk up to them, there is an enemy right in front of them and they are just shooting off into space. So you end up walking up to them and taking out the nazis. I found myself yelling at the television telling them to ****ing move cause I couldn't see in a tight area or get through, then I ended up getting shot to death cause of their stupid ass.

All the other allied stories meet up at the end. They all helped each other out with their tactics and their support through out the game. For example, the Polish are controlling a hill and they need the Canadians help. Right at the end of that mission the Canadians come through and push the Germans into Chambois(the main town in the story) to the Americans to finish off their retreat. Overall the story is good but it didn't seem to keep the same amount of interest through out the game.

Controls are the same and in COD 2 and are very responsive. Graphics are a step above 2 but that doesn't make it a better game. I'm going to harp on it again, the game is to ****ing dark. Even when I change the color settings, it brightens the menus and the story somewhat. When you back out of the setup it asks you to save it, don't bother, you still have to go back and adjust everytime you put the game back in.

Multiplayer

Modes include War, Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, this Flag game like Headquarters in 2, and probably some more but I haven't played them. You get to control vehicles located through out the online levels which is a blast. I mainly dick around in them, trying to run over people and jumping stuff. In each match you get to select what class you want to be Light, Heavy, Scout, Anti Armor, etc, and each has their specific weapons. When you die, your main weapon is left behind for other people to pick up.

The levels online are beautiful and also dark. For Deathmach mainly, the maps are just way to big and you have to run around for awhile just to find someone to kill even with 24 people on a map. Some of the time when you see them and you start shooting and they shoot back only once, you both die. Makes little sense to me but all you can do is comeback and try again. Sometimes it takes a lot of shots to put someone down, even from close range which pisses you off.

Ranked matches take a long ass time to get into, up to 5 minutes of you just sitting there. They need to fix that cause I'm not in the mood to wait that long just to start an online game.

Graphics: 9.5
Story: 7.5
Control: 9.5
Multiplayer: 7.5
Overall: 8

Call of Duty 3 is a good game, at least worth a rental to see if you like it. Personally I think Call of Duty 2 was a lot better, single player and multiplayer, and a hell of a lot more fun to play. COD 2 > COD 3.
