Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
Review by Marche567
"A game with a good idea but some flaws"
First off, let me say this. I'm new to the Rainbow Six and Tom Clancey game genres, this is my first Rainbow Six game, and only my second Tom Clancey one (my first was GRAW). This might have something to do with how I see this game compared to others who are vets of the series.
Story: 5/10
First and foremost, the story. The story was a very, very dragged out story line. This was delayed by the fact that it was so easy to die (will be talked about later). The story has very little development, and that really dragged the game down for me. The story wasn't even that good, and it only had one or two twists, the main part of a plot (IMHO of course).
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are allright. They are good, but they are nothing near the grahpics of Gears of War or Oblivion. There is nice shading and lighting, and things rarely seem to interfere with each other.
Gameplay: 6/10
The gameplay. This is where Rainbow Six: Vegas varies the most. First off, I don't know if it's my newness to the series, but you die way, way, way too easily. Seirously, 1-2 bullets close up and 5-6 bullets from far away and you're done. You have literally no reaction time if someone sneaks up on you. On the other hand, the game was really fun when you aren't dieing every 2 seconds. The guns are nice and fit your gameplay style (although in this game you always have to duck).
Sounds/Music: 7/10
Lastly, the music/sounds. The music/sounds are allright. There is really nothing special about them, though. They work for the game, but they could have been improved.
Buy, rent, or forget?
Definite rent. If you don't like it, bring it back. If you like it buy it (if you don't beat it while renting it). Unless you really hate the series, then you might as well give it a try.
