Spider-Man 3

"At Last! A Movie Game Worth Buying!"
Spiderman! Everyone's favorite superhero is back in a new blockbuster film, which of course means a half-hearted videogame to accompany it, that only hard-core fan's will buy, right? Wrong! This effort from Activision is a good looking, challenging, action-packed fun game experience.
Read on my fellow Spidey fans, read on..........
Sound: 9/10
The sound in this game is extremely good. The game features the voices of Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker/Spiderman, Topher Grace (Eddie Brock/Venom), Thomas Haden Church (William Baker/ Sandman) and Bruce Campbell as the Narrator. The game has all the sounds of the city and its inhabitants including different catch phrases for all the different gangs that Spiderman must face. The background music suits the game perfectly and adds a good atmosphere to the game.
Graphics 8/10
The graphics in this game are extremely good and are good for a game which appears on other consoles (As many multi-format games just port it onto more enhanced consoles instead of altering it.) The cut scenes in particular look very good graphically. The city looks fantastic while swinging around and I have encountered very little, if any, hint of draw distance in the game.
Gameplay 8/10
The thing that you will spend the most time doing in this game is web slinging from building to building, so you better get good at it, FAST! The game takes no prisoners with its Race sections of the game and only the best web slingers will get gold medals without a large amount of luck on there side. The good think about this being the most frequent part of the game is that it is one of the most fun things to do in the game also! You could literally just spend hours going around the city helping out the innocent people of New York. The combat in this game is extremely enjoyable as well. It is extremely fast as in previous Spiderman games; however the combat can be slowed down by the use of the 'Spider sense' which is the Spidey equivalent of Bullet Time in the game.
Replay Value 7/10
There is a lot to do in this game. There are a number of gang specific missions to complete as well as the main story mode. There are also tokens to be collected around the city as well as a number of races to complete with, Bronze, Silver and Gold awards to be obtained on these. All in all a lot to be done. Most of the Achievements in Spiderman 3 will be completed just while completing the main story, there are some that will take time, such as finding the tokens and obtaining gold's on all of the races. Will you go back to this game after it's done? Probably not. There is no online whatsoever on this game so Live fans will have no reason to go back to this game.
Final Score 8/10
Spidey's latest adventure is certainly one of the best movie tie in games I've played and is well worth the money if you're a fan of the comics or the films. So what are you waiting for? Go swing down to the shops and get it!
