"Spiderman 3, a rushed failure with some fun elements"

My first impressions upon playing spiderman 3 was it was awesome. Worth every penny. I had a whole 42 missions to do, lots of extras such as races and sky diving, achievments, a black suit to unlock, bosses to fight, and awesome web slinging.

Too bad the next day I beat all 42 missions, got bronze on all of the trick races, and unlocked the black suit. They put the black suit in the game as a unlock in probaly the worst way possible. I had 680 gamer points from this game among completing all the missions.

For starters, this game is very short and hard. This is probaly the most frustrating game availible for Xbox 360. The boss fights are extremely cheap and long. You will spend at least 20 minutes hammering away at a boss with your most powerful combos only to find nearly half his health is gone. Then he gets you in a combo where in 5 hits you are dead and have to restart. You will hit a boss while he is on the floor and and he blocks it somehow and counters with a mega combo. On one mission you must protect a antidote from about 200 lizards(not exagerating) at once. If one lizard hits the antidote, it loses a quarter of the health. If you actually manage to survive your self, then it is doubtful the antidote will survive. Things like this shouldn't have even been put in the game as they make it extremely unbalanced. There is no difficulty selection for this game either. Some of the races seem impossible to get gold...you can count on your fingers the number of people in the world with the gold races achievement.

This game has cripping camera issues. While fighting a boss he was rushing at me and all of a sudden all I see is the wall and I die. You have barely any control over the camera as right when you move it, it jerks back in place. The skydiving races are horrible as the controls are very messed up.

The game looks like a PS2 game. God of war 2 has better cutscenes than this game and it completely lacks any CGI. You can tell it was rushed for the movie and just ported over from PS2 or original Xbox.

When you beat the game and unlock the black suit for play, you will have all your stats reset so you will have to play as red spiderman if you want to get your web slinging for 200 miles achievment. Also when you switch to black suit spidey, ALL your missions are incomplete and you must re-do them(including races.)

Now on the other hand, the combat is quite good as you have many combos and stuff to unlock, though you can just button mash through the game besides boss fights. There is a cool rage mode in the black suit with super moves. Webslinging is excellent, any spidey fan will instantly fall in love with it, and there are fun button pressing cutscenes such as in God of war 2 and shenmue games. Lots of villains to fight and nearly impossible races to master if you enjoy a very hard challenge.

To wrap things up

Pros:
-Great webslinging, double webslinging, tricks while in air
-Fun combat system, button sequence cutscenes
-It's spiderman

Cons:
-Extremely frustrating and cheap boss fights and some missions, gold on races.
-Lack of things to do
-Everything resets as black suit after you finish the game
-Stupid AI, runs into walls
-Horrible PS2 graphics

Bottom line:

Worth a rent if you're a spiderman fan, if not then it is best to stay clear.
