"Aegis Wing flies high, no lie...but only in multiplayer."

As of writing this review, Aegis Wing, which came out yesterday, is FREE. Which means no money. But if you are reading this in the future, you may have to pay, as this is supposedly free for only a limited time. But free or not, if you have access to Live Gold, you should love this game.

Graphics--7/10

The graphics for this game are good, and I believe the game is in HD if you wish it to be. Cool. While the ships and enemies look good, everything else isn't. Your weapons look like GLO-RODS, which is cool because it lets you know who is shooting, but is ugly. The explosions are cool, but still bland. And the backgrounds could have more detail. Meh, it's all good for a free game.

Sound--8/10

The sound is better. The ships, explosions, and music sound good. No real problems, though it's nothing special. This game also supports microphones, which makes online fun.

Story--1/10

If you've ever played Space Invaders, you know the story. Aliens attack, you shoot. There is very little story, but that isn't the main concern of a shmup(Shoot 'em up). Don't try thinking too hard about the story, you might hurt yourself.

Gameplay--7/10

Gameplay is quite fun in this game. You get your ship, of which there are multiple colors to choose from, and then you shoot stuff. In single player, this is incredibly boring. No one to talk to, and you can't combine.

There are quite a few kinds of enemies in the game surprisingly. You have basic ships which shoot at you, ones that suicide bomb into you, some that shoot big one-hit-kill lasers at you, and many other varieties.

Most of the six levels(4/6) have a boss, which is kind of fun, but they are all easy. They have a big red spot in the middle which you must shoot, while they shoot or throw bombs or do other stuff to you.

Multiplayer is where this shines. Nothing beats getting four fun people together and reacking havoc on those aliens. Those four people can then combine together to create a super ship which increases the power of your basic weapons and super weapons.

Your main weapon is a twin GLO-ROD launcher, which shoots two little colorful blasts at your enemies. Your main weapon cannot be upgraded, but you can pick up 1 of 4 other weapons. You can get a big laser which kills mostly anything in a hit, missiles that seek out multiple enemies, an EMP blast which disables all enemy ships, and a bubble shield which deflects all enemy attacks, except for super powerful enemy laser attacks.

Buy?--Yes

While the game is free, you BETTER buy it! Once it is not free, I recommend it so long as you have online. The achievements are all easy except for one, but the game is fun regardless.

Overall--6/10

Get ship. Kill enemy. Beat level. Repeat. Mindless and fun, what Xbox Live Arcade games should be.
