"Transforming Gameplay!....sorta"

Intro: Many people throughout our world have at least heard of Transformers at some time in their lives. However, for those of us who grew up with Transformers, there's a whole new level of appreciation for them. I know I was thrilled when I heard about the new movie coming out. And when I heard there was a game, I just had to get it. My feelings? Read on.

Graphics: 9/10
I've got to say, the graphics in this game are really good. All of the Transformers are greatly detailed, and the levels you'll play through look just as good. The buildings aren't flat, 2-D kinda jobs, the trees have actual leaves, and there's more than just one person cloned 50,000 times walking around. Even if you're not big on graphics, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Music: 8/10
The music's pretty good too. The sounds of fighting and explosions come through really nice. The background music also helps to set the mood for action. Even the weapons fire sounds better than the usual generic stuff. The only problem I had was when you're driving around trying to find cool hidden stuff, you're gonna be told the same mission objective over and over again. Nothing too huge, but it can get annoying quick.

Game play: 6/10
This was rather bittersweet for me. Don't get me wrong, all the running and jumping and fighting generic enemies was great, and the driving was pretty sweet too. It's the boss fights that got to me. They were always the same thing!! Either, A: Pummel said boss with melee attacks 'til he flees, kill some drones, chase him down, and repeat. B: Pummel said boss with melee attacks, take him out in vehicle form and repeat. Or C: hit boss with thrown object, then move in and pummel him, then repeat. Do you see a pattern here? There's no originality to any of the boss fights. Even some of the generic fights got repetitive. Really, in this game you could play through the whole thing without firing a single round from your guns. I thought they could've done a lot more here.

Overall: 7/10
Overall, this game's a little above average. Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun, for a while anyhow. And there's some pretty cool stuff to unlock too. It's definitely a good game, and it's nice to know that Transformers hasn't died out. As for buy or rent, here's my breakdown:

If you're a Transformers die-hard, it's a definite buy.
If you're familiar with Transformers and liked the movie, then it's a buy.
If you've never heard of Transformers and didn't like the movie, then it's still worth a rent.

There you go, my 2 cents. Time for me to roll out!
