The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles
Review by king_wrecked
"We're addicted to the skooma (why else would we pay $32 for such a quickly-finished expansion?)"
My tagline says it all. I give it a "7" just because I felt ripped-off. It costs about $32 to purchase this expansion pack. What does Oblivion cost, about $50? A person would think that based on percentages, it should take about 70% of the time it took to finish Oblivion to finish Shivering Isles. I don't even know how many hours I played Oblivion, and I'm still technically not yet finshed. On XBOX Live Marketplace it is stated that Shivering Isles adds 30 hours of gameplay to the Oblivion world. I finished it all too quickly. Not in 30 hours.
Now we all know that we would pay anything just to have any additional experience with this game. That is where good ole' Microsoft has us by the nuts. And it's definitely crooked and immoral, isn't it? I think it would be fair if Shivering Isles were to cost half what it does.
If you read any reviews of this game, and the reviewer doesn't mention the rip-off aspect, then that person probably isn't a hardcore gamer. It just really sucked to be so excited about some additional gameplay, only to have it end so quickly. I'm not saying anything new; there's a couple people who've said it already. I'm just emphasizing the fact that you will pay the money because it is Elder Scrolls, you will enjoy playing the game, but you will not feel full and satisfied.
The positive reviews show the positive aspects of the game. But Shivering Isles is no different than some of the games that first came out for the 360. You know, those games that you completed in a couple days. Wow, look at the pretty graphics. Listen to that sound. But what the f**k, it's already done. Just a warning!
I really hope that there are no more "expansion packs" for this game, because if there are, I will buy it, and once again I will be disappointed. It's quite the psychological dilemna. But what can a guy do? We's hooked on da skooma!
