Call of Duty 3
Review by RuDuDe2202
"WWII, a tired series??"
WWII, is it really a tired series? My opinion, if done right, NO.
Graphics 9/10- Although sometimes it can be glitchy/choppy online or you can get stuck, the graphics are amazing. Next to Gears of War, the graphics are truly "next gen" from the character faces to the individual guns to the blades of grass.
Gameplay 8/10- (Single player 6/10 Multiplayer 8/10)
There are good things and bad things about this game. Ill start with the positives.
The controls are easy and responsive, a classic controller set-up just like Call of Duty 2. The gameplay is amazing online. The special feature each class has makes it interesting and forces you to adapt, depending on the situation like rifle grenades for the riflemen or the artillery strikes for scouts. Each online game can support up tp 24 players, which gets intense and theres never a dull moment although it tends to lag occasionally. The lags are minor and won't stop you from having a blast.
Now onto the big, bad negatives. These are minor things, but these can be annoying. Don't expect much from the single player campaign. There is a story line but it's often chessy and boring. Am I playing a game or watching a boring 1970 war movie?? Most scenes aren't memorable and the worst part is that you can't skip the cinima scenes. The veteran mode can be very annoying but you will be rewarded with many campaign mode achivements, which are very easy to get. Now the question is, are you up to get the achievements from ranked matches? A lot of them are easy to get but getting 40000 points can take a while. Hang in there soldier!A minor problem that a player could have is the right stick click melee attack. Sometimes, you can be so into the game that you accidently click and melee the air, causing you to be killed or be damaged. The AI could have been better. For the enemy, they seem to have very accurate aim, regardless of what weapon they are using (especially on veteran mode). They seem to see your every action and can snipe you from afar with a very inaccurate MP40 machine gun. Your ally AI can be very dumb. Artificial intelligence? scratch the intelligence part. Sometimes they can cause you to die by pushing you out of your own cover or they sometimes run into your line of fire or grenade, causing you to restart. They can be either be no help or very little help so you should rarely rely on them.
Overall
This game overall is a great game. Online mode is enjoyable, especially with a lot of people and friends. Theres enough gametypes to keep you busy like Capture the flag (single and regular), battle (basically a free for all), team battle, headquarters, and my personal favorite, war, where your team has to capture every territory to end the game. Don't let the single player mode influence you, its still enjoyable for 1 to 4 occasional play throughs. Just think about the achievements! The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is solid, and the multiplayer is intense and fun. The community is great, everyone is eager to play you regardless of skill or age.
So is WWII really a tired series? No, because I feel that there can still be manby things done to make the ultimate(or a great) WWII shooter.
