Madden NFL 08

"Wish I had the game the websites reviewed"

I have played Madden since the very first game on Sega Genesis so I believe that qualifies me for being a seasoned video football player.

Graphics - Pretty nice. Very good actually. I can not complain here. The game really shines. It's cool seeing a night game and they show a close up of the helmet and you can see the reflection of the lights and the stadium.

Sound - Average. The radio announcer dude is kindof annoying and I would rather have Madden and Michaels back. It's called Madden football after all.

Options - Ok no complaints here. Franchise mode, season, superstar, mini games...their all here. I may be on of the few but I miss the madden cards.

Gameplay - Here we go! How did this game make it past the testers?

-There are WAY too many fumbles : Don't give me that BS about 'cover up the ball'. I do cover up the ball. Perfect example - Bubba Franks catches a pass at the 30 yard line, turns up field, covers the ball (for 3 yards he heads upfield, to the 27 WITH THE BALL COVERED WITH BOTH HANDS for 3 yards, a DB bumps him from side with a gentle shot-fumble). Total BS. The fumbles are random whether you cover the ball up or not. I am not a highlight stick freak...I barely use it. Annoying as _ell.

-DB & LB a.i on passes: I am sooooooo sick of the superhuman abilities of the DB's and LB's on passing plays. Again...these madden fanboys will scream 'don't throw stupid passes'. I don't. But when my receiver is doing a post corner...and the DB is on the inside hip of my WR...I pump fake...the DB bites and my WR cuts to the corner. The DB is NOW beat by 5-10 yards!. My receiver is sprinting toward the corner and this DB SPINS, adjusts his hips, changes directions and makes up 15 yards in the blink of an eye for an INT. Give me a break. That DB is toast in a real game. This superhuman crap is annoying. LB's do the same thing. Antonio Gates is on some no name linebacker from the Browns, Gates does a quick out...he has 4-5 steps on the this LB. I lead Gates to the sideline with the pass. This Linebacker warp speeds and picks it off.

Offensive line A.I. Ummmmm I am playing a 3-4 team. My left tackle picks up the d-end, my center picks up the d-tackle. Middle linebacker blitzes right at my left guard. I have my full back staying in to block my QB's blind side. What happens? The blitzing line backer runs right by my guard AND full back to sack my QB. This is with my pass blocking slider on 65 on all pro. Guess I will have to crank it up to 90.



Over all an ok game but the gameplay has some serious holes in it. I wish the game reviewers would mention these serious flaws. Are the game reviewers afraid to point out obvious flaws in EA's golden child?

They may be but I am not!
