"A classic reborn"

Centipede and Millipede are both excellent arcade titles from back in the day. I personally don't remember playing them in the arcade but their many appearances on home consoles is where I did experience them.

With this package we get the original games and their evolved forms. The original looks very dated with there small sprites but I must admit I like the old style best. I also enjoy the cloud effect from Millipede when you blow up one of the little cloud like things. The evolved form is bigger and clunkier to look at. It just becomes too distracting with the bug guts.

The sounds are also different for each version. You have classic bleeps and stuff for the old version while the evolved version has slightly more realistic firing sounds and the bugs make a slightly more real sound.

Control in the game is pretty good. Move with the left analog stick and firing with the A button. It's simple and it's fairly responsive which is rare these days with the 360's controller.

Ultimately both games play the same except Millipede has a few more things going on in it. The idea of the game is that you're this tiny ship at the bottom. You're able to move about 5 spaces up and down and all the way left and right on the board.

From the top of the screen you'll see a centipede or a millipede slowly making its way down or quickly if you're playing the evolved mode. You need to destroy all of its pieces.

This sounds easier than it is because the entire map is filled with little mushrooms and each time you kill a piece a new mushroom appears. Not only that but slugs and spiders will attack as well.

In evolved mode if you don't kill a creature quick enough it has new bits that come and run around the stage making it even harder.

The game is rather endless with its levels but the leader boards give it a purpose. No on-line play or anything but I don't think this was ever two players in the arcade.

You're pretty much getting four games in one. Two versions of Centipede and two versions of Millipede and all for only 400 MS Points. It's pretty much a steal but the game isn't really for everyone. Fans of the arcade shooters will get the most enjoyment out of this and while I don't find it to be a classic, it's still a really fun game from long ago.
