Rock Band
Review by skatinbrad
"Amazing Multiplayer + Online, Limited Solo time."
Looking for a new type of game, original and different from the others? Something great for parties, family or friends? Or maybe you just feel like rockin' out to some of your favorite bands?
If you said yes to any of the above, Rock Band is the game for you. Whether you want to play alone on Solo Tour, or battle out on an online match of Tug Of War or Score Duel, you have to try this game. Rock Band is perfect for multiplayer, especially if you have Xbox Live. Play with an online band just for fun, or start a band with some friends!
The bundle comes with a drum kit, the new Fender Stratocaster guitar controller, and a microphone. The drum kit has four pads you hit, and a kick pedal for the Bass drum. The Fender guitar is like the Guitar Hero controllers, but with new solo buttons, a bigger whammy bar, and a new Distortion switch. The guitar also has a different look, and the colored buttons can only be seen if your looking at them from a birds eye view. The solo buttons are used for solos, and if you use them when a solo comes you don't have to strum, you can just 'finger tap' or press the buttons. Finally, the Microphone is like any other karaoke Microphone, but the game registers your voice by sound pitch and the length of your words. The Microphone also has functions in game that are unique as well. When circles appear in the screen, you tap the microphone and make back-up sounds like a cowbell or tambourine. You can also use the 'special' (Star Power, if you will) to bring your points up much higher, and have a cool echoing voice. Very fun to use, and a good way to stay away from failing. All three of the instruments are very interesting and fun ways to play Rock Band.
The 3 online modes include Quick Play (Create a band, but don't go through a tour, just play songs), Tug of War (Show your skills, think of a real Tug-Of-War game but with more rock and less tug) and Score Duel (Player with the highest score wins!). Although 3 modes don't sound like much, but once your actually in the game it is. Play as a Bassist, Singer, Drummer, or guitarist on all of these features.
The only downside to this game is that if you don't have Xbox Live, your fun is limited, but is still huge. Now, say you don't have friends that come by often, this game won't be as incredible as it could be. The game's Solo Tour is tons of fun, believe me, but if you don't have a good way to access multiplayer, it's going to get boring after a while.
Aside from limited Single Player campaign, this game is a MUST BUY!
