Soldier of Fortune: Payback

"SoF from awesome to garbage"

SoF Payback is the third game in the SoF series a series once known for being a great FPS series multiplayer and single player wise. Thats where it stops. SoF Payback brought the elements of the first two, but thats about it everything else about this game is nonsense garbage.

Graphics-Graphics wise the game does look good, not the best looking game ever, but not the worse and out of all the SoF games it falls last in terms of graphics. If you're looking for a killer FPS with killer graphics you can pass this one up.

Sound-The sound for the game isn't exactly the greatest either. None of the guns sound right, the music in the game isn't exactly grade A material though the sounds you hear of nature while going through the levels are pretty good, though thats not much to brag about. Sound wise this game isn't exactly good either.

Story-There isn't much of a story. Starts off with you being setup and your partner turns out to be evil from there you're chasing members of a terrorist group. Thats pretty much it.

Gameplay-This is where the ball drops. This game is horrible when it comes to gameplay, the creators of the game must have had one goal in mind and thats to defy logic. Nothing makes any sense in this game and nothing is consistent. The boss levels are ridiculous difficulty wise and gameplay wise especially when you have a boss battle in a helicopter who becomes invulnerable when he's behind a tree. Even normal enemy fights are ridiculous especially when they can seem to shoot you through objects.

Other things this game fails in is Spawn points, the game has horrible check points that leave you spawning infront of enemy fire leaving you near death. And lastly the aiming system is off, many times you will think you're dead on target as the game leads you to believe, but you will completely miss your target despite the game leading you to think you were dead on.

SoF was a great series and still is to this day, but this game should not be considered part of such a great series, the people behind it shouldn't be making games especially ones from such a great series. So if you're looking for a FPS that is actually fun and good this is not for you and this is coming from someone who was a fan of the series until this piece of trash showed up.
