"Fun for the whole family and a lot of gaming to be had on one disc"

Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga is a compilation of the first two games. It offers both trilogies and a few added bonuses. Personally I find the price appealing and I did enjoy the original game over the sequel despite the movies being the other way around. But what makes it so good exactly?

Imagine a mime version of Star Wars. The intergalactic adventure but with Lego figures. No dialog and yet you can tell what the characters are thinking by their silly expressions. The game does a fair job of conveying the plot without really doing anything. Star Wars fans will love it.

The game is very simple when you look at it. No real textures, everything is small and shiny. It really does look like the world is made out of Legos. It's nicely done actually. Some of the scenes are funny too with ships being blown up into little Lego bits.

The sounds are about what you would expect. Light sabers buzz with energy and the little Lego bits hit the ground with a scattering sound. Gun blasts sound just like they came from the movie. The music also seems lifted from the films so again it's a nice thing for fans.

The control in the game is very simple. Move with the left analog stick. X is your attack, a is jump, holding b uses your characters skill and y changes your character when by one you can control. Very easy to get the hang of, no real practice is needed.

The game offers 5 or stages for each of the 6 chapters and the stages for episodes 4-6 seem longer than the others. The main goal is to always to get from one point to the next.

The thing that makes it fun is that each character has a skill; some share them as its set for a type of character. But what makes it interesting is that once you finish a level you select what guys to adventure into it with next. This opens entirely new areas to find secrets so it will never play the same.

The games puzzles are fairly easy. Most of which involve you knowing what character to use, as if their image on the door or whatever does tip you off.

The game plays like an action game. Run around with a light saber, deflecting shots and slicing up robots. The puzzles switch it up so it's about 3/5 action 2/5 puzzle. Oh and you can use the force which is fun as well. Nothing like mind throwing someone off a cliff.

The game is also fairly easy. You can die but you only lose bits. Bits are everywhere and are considered money in the game so it isn't wise to lose them all but it won't matter much either way. No deaths mean it's a very easy game.

The game is actually kind of long which is surprising. But it's also fun. The level design tends to be good and some of the situations are rather amusing. Besides that it's a very family friendly game. There is also on-line co-op and single console co-op which I think is a great addition that was needed. The achievements are also fairly simple if you just want 100% completion.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who hasn't experienced it yet. If you have already played through the series then the only thing really new is the on-line co-op and that's worth it if you're into that kind of thing. I personally only own the first game and would quickly replace it with this version once it drops a little more.
