Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Review by vc315
"Great game, or good game? That is the question."
Rainbow Six Vegas 2, the sequel to Rainbow Six Vegas, wasn't changed much from the original, but doesn't that mean it should still be a great game? Some major bugs say no, only a decent one.
Graphics: 7/10
Looks like slightly improved graphics from the original. It's definitely not a Call of Duty 4, but it has decent graphics. Character models look good and some small details make some maps look great. The Rainbow Six Vegas series has never been focused towards their graphics, but their gameplay.
Gameplay: 8/10
The gameplay is a plus for the series. From story mode, to terrorist hunt, to online, can keep you busy for a long time. When playing story mode, or terrorist hunt, or online, you can earn experience points, and once you earn enough, you will rank up. This can keep you into it for a while, since to get to Elite (highest rank), you will need 400,000 experience..... And trust me, it's LOT! But there are a lot of major bugs that have occurred in the first few weeks/month of the game. One glitch that many people have complained about is that their rank has been resetting. I know a friend who had this happen to him. He signed onto Xbox Live, but then it said at the menu that he needed to create a new character. Not knowing what would happen he decided to do it, and when he finished, he was back at the first rank. There was no way to reset it after he had already gained over 100,000 experience. Another glitch is the turret glitch in single player. I won't explain it in detail, but it is how an never ending terrorist spawns in the same spot over and over after you kill him, so you can get your AI teammate to go in a certain spot and just keep killing that terrorist, giving you points while not even having to play. Even with all these glitches, many people have spoken saying Ubisoft will release a patch to fix all of this. We'll just have to wait and see.
Sound: 7/10
The gun shots sound great, but there is occasionally a glitch that when you are shooting your gun and stop, the gun sounds will just keep going. It can sound irritating as it can go on for a whole minute. Other than that, the music seems good, although it can get repetitive.
Multiplayer: 8/10
This is what Rainbow Six Vegas strives off of. The great multiplayer, from team deathmatch, to total conquest, to team leader. Although, playing ranked has suddenly become unpopular due to the fact that you can only have a limited amount of respawns. Team deathmatch is your ordinary run around and kill the other team, but it can get boring in some games where teams like to camp. I, myself, seem to be a run-n-gunner, but when both teams are camping, you have no choice. Total conquest is a VERY fun gametype. You and your teammates must go around the map and try to capture the three satellites that are set up in different spots on the map. Once you are in control of all three satellites, there is a timer that you must hold them for. It you are able to hold all of them, you win. But, if the other team captures one of the three, you must try and re-capture it. The process then repeats. There is the occasional loud mouth trash talker and that can sometimes ruin the experience.
Recommendation:
I would buy RSV2 if you hadn't played RSV1 because it's a whole new experience. But, if you already have RSV1, I recommend that you only rent it, just because it's almost an exact replica.
