Viking: Battle for Asgard
Review by kllerfoot
"A beautiful game, covered up by smoke."
This game looked really awesome. The cover art looked great, the back of the cover was perfect, so I picked up this game. I would classify this game as a great game covered by smoke, which means it has a couple problems that might cover up the good parts of the game.
Gameplay - 9/10
The gameplay is one of the better parts of the game. It is also very simple. Wander the lands, plundering gold and killing anything(and hopefully everything) in your path. The controls in my opinion are perfect, I had no problem with the controls.
Story - 6/10
The story is one of the worse parts of the game. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but the story seems so...Dull. Missions are one sentence...About 5 words in the sentence. Here is an example: Get the sword. Missions like that really deteriorate the quality of the game, but this proves that this game is good; This game still has good quality even after the bad story.
Graphics- 8/10
The graphics are good. The detail of limbs getting sliced off, and the wilderness are amazing. I also noticed some other reviews where the graphics is like the greatest part of the game, but this is not the case here. The graphics make the game lag in intense battles. But, Skarlin's detail is amazing, and so are Hels forces.(the legion)
Sound - 5/10
Now this is the worst part of the game. I can't believe nobody else noticed that the sound was pretty bad. In the intense battles, I should be hearing the clanking of swords, the bashing of shields, but I don't. There are only about 18 different sounds, which in fact, is not the great. So don't put the disk in and expect a masterpiece of sound.
How long will you have this game? 7/10
This game on normal, takes about 7 hours or more on the first try. However, if you start this on hard, it could take 10 or more hours. But this all depends on if you want to collect everything. The replayability is O.K... I am not usually the person who replays action games after beating them. Only a select few of games are worthy enough for me to play again. Unfortunately, this is not one of those games.
Final notes -
This game is a big rent, Unless your one of those people who love getting achievements. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes limb-cutting fun, or are just bored and want to try something new.
