Skate
Review by Steverino2
"skate.- the game that dethroned tony hawk!!!"
Story- 8/10- This game has a great story plot. As a skater, you start off skating one day being filmed. But you grind the wrong rail, at the wrong time. As he lands, a bus, yes, a bus, hits you. Your immediately taken to the hospital. Once you leave, your off to become a pro, and be on the cover of the Skateboard Mag, and Thrasher. You have a long way away. You will meet pros, like Danny Way, Paul Rodriguez, and Rob Dyrdek. They help you with tips, like pumps, nollies and other stuff.
Gameplay-9/10/- This game introduces a new trick system: flickit. This involves the use of the right stick, and the right stick only. Tricks, like ollies, involve pulling the right stick down, and pushing it forward. Harder tricks, like 360 flips and inward heelflips involve a combination of tricks. Note: This does not involve using a button combination. Pretty much
Graphics-10/10- This game has the sickest skating graphics. You can see the details in ramps, rails, cars, etc.. And unlike choosing a base colors for wheels, shirts and whatever, You can see detail, in wheels, shirts, and others. And ever cooler, you can see the wheels spinning on literally every board.
View- Unlike in Tony Hawk, instead of looking at your entire body, skate. focuses more on the board, then what your wearing. It takes some getting used to. But once you master it, you don't wanna go back to Tony Hawk view
Online Play- This game has 3 different styles of play: ranked, unranked, and freeskate. Pretty much, all I do is freeskate, which as it's name says, you skate and socialize with others. Pretty much, you do nothing.
Actual Gameplay- During the game, you must complete tasks like, deathraces, contests, videos, photo shoots, etc.. These tasks get progressivly harder as the game progresses. You have been warned.
Final notes- This is the current greatest skate game. The only problem is that you can't get off your board. That can get annoying, like if you get to a hard to reach area, and you fall, you will throw your controller at the wall, and dish out $40 more dollars for a new one.
So anyway, this game is pretty cool. Greatest skating game in the history of the world at the moment. I give it a 9 out of 10. You might think otherwise. So go get it.
