"It's Doom, so it's good, right?"

------
Intro
------
We've all heard of doom at some point in our gaming lives. It's ranks up there as one of the most classic First Person Shooters ever made, right next to Wolfenstein 3D. This Xbox Live Arcade re-release is an extremely faithful port to the original Doom.

------------------------
Gameplay - 10/10
------------------------
If you've never played Doom before, it's a good old First Person Shooter that isn't too hard to play on an Xbox 360 controller, it'll take time getting used to if you remember playing it on a computer. It offers 5 good difficulty levels ranging from Extremely easy to insanely hard.

----------------------
Sound - 8/10
----------------------
Doom translates well to a television screen. The sound is still great, although the music seems to be different at some parts, where it includes some annoying beeping noises at times.

--------------------------
Replayablility - 7/10
--------------------------
It doesn't take too long to run through all four episodes of Doom and once you complete them, there really is no point in doing them again as there is no extra rewards. However, that's not saying that you wouldn't want to try it on a higher difficulty, as some more things are put in, such as more enemies.

-----------------------
Multiplayer - 5/10
-----------------------
If there was one bad thing to say about this game, I'd have to say it's deathmatch mode needed a lot more work. The maps are just the normal Single Player episode maps, so even if you have 4 people in the deathmatch, you're likely not to be in a raging firefight with all four at once, as most of the maps are much too large to have a proper gunfight in. The co-op mode, however, is astounding. It's fun to run through the single player episodes with friends by your side, even if friendly fire is on, causing the occasional betrayal or accidental group death.

Final Words
----------------
This Xbox 360 port of doom is excellent, with its fair share of flaws. If you've played the single player before, then don't expect much going through it again. The multiplayer co-op is great, while the deathmatch mode could of been better. I'd say, if you've played Doom already, then you don't have to play through it again, as the added multiplayer feature isn't really worth it. However, if you've yet to discover this gem, then for 400 Microsoft points, it's a bargain.
