"Where are the insane weapons?"

The very first Turok game was captivating. Eerie jungle scenes with futuristic alien battle stations. But the thing that separated Turok Series from all other games were it's larger than life weapons. Do you remember firing your first Fusion Cannon blast in the original Turok? Your jaw drops, all games before it had basic weapons and it was the story and type of bad guys that were going to make it different from the pack. Turok blew fans away with quad firing rocket launchers, shot guns with explosive shells, the Shockwave weapon and that ridiculous earth ending Chronosceptor weapon. How about the War Blade in the sequel that ripped bad guys heads off? The Cereboral Bore was a historic weapon that tracked an enemy, attached itself to the bad guys skull, drilled into it, and when it reached the center, exploded with one of the best action sequences a gun in your inventory could perform. Did anybody ever see the Personal Singularity Generator in the third installment? It was a personal black hole that sucked enemies into it and created all chaos for those who had it! The game's directory of weaponry is fantastic, easily some of the best weapons in any video game in the history of First Person Shooters. Easily.

The new Turok reinvents itself in all the worst ways. Outside of some beautiful graphics and some interesting knife fatalities (A huge upgrade from the game's original knife in the series) this 'been there done that', average, FPS rips off the Call Of Duty and Halo games so badly, you almost can't enjoy it due to it's sheer obnoxiousness behind it. When you get hit, you react the same way you do in COD only with a red screen that blurs and makes it impossible to recover from, your health is infinite as long as you find cover like Halo. Your team mates are butch marine types straight out of the for mentioned series. All the bad guys look the same and even the cool knife attack becomes redundant after seeing the exact same scene again and again and again. There is even a giant spider tank boss that is almost exactly identical to the Scarab boss in the Halo games. Come on people! The only weapons that remain from the original Turok games are the tek bows, flame throwers and plasma rifles. After that, just a bunch of average and outdated renditions of weapons seen in (and done better in) Golden Eye. But the biggest disappointment in this game, is that we have a new gen system here, all the potential in the world to make the worlds most outrageous weapons. I would have overlooked all the copy cat repetition if I could of at least been able to fire my very own personal hydrogen bomb at a field filled with bad guys.

Turok is remembered for it's fantastic landscapes and deranged, over the top weapons. This game has nothing fall back about it, being the worlds biggest copy cat failure for the year. A rental at best and a huge disappointment.

Disclaimer!!! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU LIKED THE OTHER TUROK GAMES. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL TUROK GAMES. DO NOT BUY TUROK FOR THE XBOX 360! RENT IT, SEE IT, I PROMISE YOU WILL BE LEFT FEELING IT'S AVERAGE AT BEST. GUARANTEED!
