Go! Go! Break Steady
Review by thisispurecrap
"Zuma with a twist!"
I have always liked puzzle games, from Chu chu rocket to Tetris attack, if it is a puzzle game I WILL play it, and with some great puzzle games on the 360's arcade (Braid, Puzzle fighter and Roogoo come to mind) its understandable that Go! go! Break steady goes unnoticed.
GAME PLAY - 9.0
Someone decided to mix 'Zuma' with 'Boom Boom Rocket' in a blender and this is what came out, the point of the game is to press certain buttons at certain given times following the beat (kind of like a cheap version of DDR), now, when you complete a sequence your character starts to break dance while another screen pops up, depending on how many good beats you hit you are given puzzle pieces, which you must then place in groups of 3 or larger to make them blow up (very much like Zuma).
The game seems really difficult at the beginning because there seems to be so much happening at the same time but don't worry, you'll be playing like a pro after your second or third try.
GRAPHICS - 8.0
The characters in the game are cartoony and really fun to look at while break dancing, the menus are understandable and there are some 3D animations here and there that look pretty decent. The major flaw I found is that backgrounds are not only inanimate but lame and blurry as well, something you'd expect out of a Nintendo 64 game, you won't be looking at them much because of all the things going on at once to keep you busy but the programmers could have done better.
STORY - 6.0
Not much to say here, some kids (and someones grandma) are taking over the city's turfs by break dancing, nothing fancy but serves it's purpose.
REPLAY VALUE - 8.0
You have 30 levels at your disposal that even after you beat you might want to come back to, either to get an A rating or to attempt to destroy certain particular puzzle pieces that unlock special prizes (which you need for an achievement). If you are into puzzle games give this one a try, it certainly kept me entertained.
On a side note, for some reason the Trial version for this game is harder than the actual game, you can expect to meet the demo's difficulty level around the middle of the game.
TOTAL - 7.75.
Not quite an 8 but still a fun experience, I recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzle games.
