The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition
Review by royevans87
"One of the greatest games you will ever play!"
There are some games in life that you can't help but spend 100+ hours on. This is one of them. In fact, many gamers will probably tell you this is the most addictive title you can play that is offline. You can simply get lost in the world map, and encounter many enemies, friends and dungeons.
This game, in my opinion, was the first major AAA title that was released on the Xbox 360. This is the version I am reviewing and I have also tested the Playstation 3 version which is almost identical apart from upgraded graphics and the lack of achievements. Where can I start on such a great game?
Graphics
Even though the game is nearly a few years old, the graphics are still considered some of the best in this generation of consoles. The stunning views you will notice as you wonder the world are inspiring. Everything in this world is detailed and the developers have gone to great lengths to ensure it all runs smoothly. The only issue is that the dungeons are very repetitive in terms of design but this is easily overlooked.
Gameplay
The best way I can describe this is an offline MMO. You level up individual skills as you use them and after levelling up your skills after so many times, your overall level is increased after sleeping in a bed in the game. The range of skills you can use are good and it will take you a long time to master them all. My personal favourites to use are Blade, destruction magic, athletics and heavy Armor. There is a difficulty setting that can be adjusted to your skill level although I recommend leaving it on normal for the best experience.
Value for money
This game is now sold on budget price so there is no reason to at least try the game. Even when this game was full priced, it was worth your money. It will take you months to complete and every moment of this world is enjoyable.
Overall
I would say this game is one of the best ever. There are no major issues with the game and every aspect is well produced. This experience is best played on a HDTV to really appreciate the things you will see. It still looks good in SD although things become hard to see such as small text.
If you love games, simply give this game a play. You won't look back. That is a promise.
