50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
Review by JayMoney624
"G-G-G-G-G-U NOT!!"
To be as fair as possible, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is pretty bad. I went into this game expecting a lot more than what should have been expected from this sort of game. After looking at how high certain sites and what not rated this game I would've expected this game to be nothing short of a great game, but I was severely let down.
Well, to be honest, the story was probably the worst put together story I've ever heard of in my entire life. I would say it's something I'd expect a 5th grader to put together, but I'd be embarrassing 5th graders. 50 Cent does a concert in a different country, gets screwed...by everyone, gets revenge and then lives happily ever after. Absolutely 0 character development, which is most important in my opinion for a good story.
The graphics really aren't bad, but not impressive. I just hate that in cutscenes there's this weird discoloring on parts in the environment that are about to get blown up. It's like in cartoons how the objects that move stand out a lot more than everything else. After every scene the environments take a while to load which is lame, because you can still move and whatnot and I went through a whole level like that while playing co op and could hardly see a thing.
The soundtrack, as expected, was a bunch of songs from 50 Cent and G-Unit. If you're a fan of 50 Cent, then by all means, you will enjoy the soundtrack. I, not being a fan of 50 Cent, didn't find the soundtrack bad and I actually felt as though it fit the setting real well, but there's one song where at the end a very disturbing voice plays. When my friend and I first heard this we looked at each other like "WTF." I set the controller down and waited until the song ended, because it's that annoying.
Gameplay is most important when enjoying a game. No matter how bad the story is, if it has fun gameplay I'll play through it just for that. This game is just not fun when it comes to gameplay. The cover system is absolutely awful, when you press A to cover you have a higher chance of getting hit, than if you positioned yourself at the right angle behind an object. This game also plays more of a rail shooter, in the sense that where the gun is pointing is completely ignored by where the aimer is. This can work out well in a lot of situations, but when playing co-op if your partner accidently jumps in front of where you're aiming they'll get a little upset at you.
The 360 is known for being a system with great shooters, but this game just isn't on of them. There's little replayability if you can sit through getting all the achievements, I drew the line at getting all the golds considering how ridiculous getting them is. Don't buy or rent this game, let musicians stick to music, please.
