Armored Core 4
Review by PhD_in_Sniping
"7.7 out of 10, This game is no let down to the AC series. Decent Game, worth a rent or buy 20$ at most."
The Armored Core series have been around for quite some time now. I remember playing the old ones, upgrading and blasting through thousands of drones with your favorite mech. Ah, that was great. Despite some bad or average reviews this game barely skimmed above average and offered an enjoyable experience to me for about 35 Hours. That includes acquiring all achievements through my travels in story mode. This game really isn't as bad as some people are reviewing it. Please try Armored Core 4, it is a good game. Now, let''s get down to business.
As far as the Armored Core games go, this one did not innovate or re-invent to offer some players a new experience. If people are going to complain about games when they fix something that isn't broke then why ask for the developers to do so by saying, "We need more." Anyway, I will now split the game into several sub categories to further explain my point.
Story Mode 8.5/10
The campaign mode had a fair amount of repetition but nothing severe. The missions were unique for the most part. The format in which you chose your mission, the menu I mean, is very well set up. The negative credits function was eliminated from the series with this addition, if you know what I am talking about then you know what I mean but others need not worry. I thought it was well lived and was pretty enjoyable.
Online Multiplayer- 7.4/10
The online multiplayer had no problems that were severe it just got boring after a little while. if you can get a match nowadays you will most likely run into the same person several times and that's never fun!
Graphical Components 9/10
The game was very smooth and nice looking graphically and this was a great reason for it's success into my good side of games. The Action genre of games need good graphics no matter how much a person can say, "Graphics don't matter in a game." They will ALWAYS matter in action games such as this.
Plot Elements 6/10
The plot was good nothing special. It wasn't bad. It is ,however, very hard to tell the reader what it is like spoiler free, so I won't bother.
Data Packs - 10/10
For all AC veterans, data packs are an alias for the arena, you unlock more mechs to fight after every chapter in story mode. They are just a 1v1 battle with mechs.
Achievements 8/10
The achievements were easy to get, too easy in some regards. but all in all that can be a good thing.
Voice Acting/ Audio 9/10
The audio was clear and got the points across. It's good.
3D Object Design 9/10
The objects and environments are nicely scaled to the rest of the scape. Gets the point across with pleasure.
Playtime 8/10
I got about 35 hours out of the game which is average so, yeah.
Difficulty Balance 10/10
Normal mode was actually challenging about 50 percent of the time. Hard mode was quite difficult and an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend anyone to play on a higher difficulty setting.
