"EA Skate 2 - Ruined"

Just rented this game because I played and got all of the achievements for the first one and loved it to death. I play the first one every day but this one just has a number of things that make me scream. I normally do not get frustrated with many games and when I do, the moments are very few and far between but this game seriously wrecked my controller and killed my closet doors. I dont consider myself to be an expert of the game but I figure knowing almost every trick first try and getting all the achievements on the first one has to mean that I'm not horrible either.


Graphics 7/10
The first games graphics were way better to me, this one seems like its more gritty or more sloppy. The first one seemed to have a lot of perfect lighting but this one seems all dark and difficult to see certain things at times.

Sound 9/10
The sound was as always, nothing new. You could hear the pop, the flick, and the landing. Along with the reverts and bearings. The voices were good and the random pedestrian chatter was good.

Gameplay 5/10
It seems to me like they realized how difficult some of the films you had to do in the first one and made it easier in trade for making everything else excruciatingly more difficult. Playing skate was so much harder, the death races are completely aggravating to the point where I want to pull my hair out, the competitions are set up cool but even knowing all the tricks wont help you do to the odds of actually landing on the rail even if youre aimed at it or the odds of getting hit by another skater, and the spots are fifty times more complicated.

Controls 7/10
Yes there are a lot of new tricks but in order to do them you have to find some awkward off the wall area or get a lotttt of air. Its exactly the same as before when it comes to the first games tricks but the new ones just make things more difficult.

Replayability 5/10
This is a 10/10 if you are just going to continue your beaten game but I would never dream of replaying another career on this game, I went through teeth grinding, hair pulling, and door punching fury for all the achievements on this game and I sent it right back to gamefly. If anyone came up to me and said " Hey I think I'm gonna buy EA Skate 2., I would strongly advise against it. Horribly disappointing.
